    2014 Horsethief 1 Fork Question.

I have a custom build to begin with and thinking I might toss a Pike on the bike, as I want 34mm stanchions. Questions is has anyone went to a 140mm fork on these yet. If so how has it worked out. I'm happy with the steering with the 130mm Revelation I have one it now.

If you search this forum, you'll see that Salsa has stated that running a 140mm Pike on the Horsethief will void the warranty due to the longer axle to crown measurement. They say a 120mm Pike is the most travel you can use and still keep your warranty intact.

Do you happen to know what the H/A is with this setup? I'm loving this bike but being heavy I don't like the flex of 32mm forks.

I was thinking the new MRP Stage fork, but its 6mm too tall AC height.

It seems like the Pike @120 is the way to go if you are looking for something stiffer.

I wonder why there are so many restrictions on the forks available for this bike, it seems like there aren't that many options that don't void the warranty. Could Salsa do a little testing and expand the options available? The thing I always loved about Salsa was that you could hang tons of different parts on them. The Ibis Ripley can run 120-140mm forks . . .

I think they are playing it safe with this one. The head tube area seems pretty stout on these bikes. For me it's not like I want this additional fork for hucking and such! Just don't like the deflection of 32mm tubes. It's on reason I got away from 29'ers early on.

Spoke with Salsa and they are pretty firm on the numbers. Even the Pike at 120 with have a A/C close to 538 if the statement above is correct. So that now has me thinking maybe to get a 34 I might consider the X-Fusion Trace RL2.

    X Fusion Shox - Trace RL2

Axle to Crown: 546mm @ 140mm, so in the 120 setting it should fall within range.
