    120mm on a Spearfish ?

Planning on some slightly more difficult riding a few times this year, along with the fact I ideally need a new set of forks anyway as mine are old and tired. So I was wondering if anyone has fitted a set of 120's to their Spearfish ? I know it's not recommended/supported by Salsa, but my frame is 2nd hand anyway and way out of warranty too... So if it went wrong it's on my head only.

    Cheers.

I just ordered a 2014 fish off of ebay, as well as 2014 fox f120. I ran 120 on my Giant anthem 29er with great results. I was debating 100, but the 51mm G2 offset is much harder to find than I expected, and I scored a great deal on the fox 120.

So would the G2 offset slack out or steepen the HTA? I'm contemplating a 120 on my fish too, or selling the thing and finding me a frame that gets back to a sub-70-degree HTA like my old Turner had.

G2 steepens h.a. slightly pushing front wheel axle forward 5-6mm, bringing the crown a tiny bit closer towards the ground. The head angle on the 2014 is listed at 69 degrees with 100mm g2 fork, I believe, so 68ish with 20mm longer fork. 2 Rides on my new fish and love it. 1 inch shorter chainstays than my anthem, very playful bike for xc. I'm no wheelie master but I can at least pop a wheelie on it. One odd thing with this bike, I usually have a harder time getting the handlebar height as low as the saddle height on 29ers, this bike was no problem with room to spare. Whether that's the g2, bike geo itself, or a mix of both??
