    '11 Spearfish front der help

Resurrecting this build with a new XT 2x crankset. Thought I could just keep my 3x der and adjust limits but cage too big/long and hits chainstay linkage before it gets down to the proper height.

Anyone give me the correct btm pull/high clamp type needed to make this happen? It's the missing link to getting me back rolling on this machine.

    Thanks in advance.

For the exact same reasons as you, I always end up running mine 1x9 or 1x10.

That's my alternative. I have a 1x10 and SS currently. But e13/Hive seems to be out of PF btm brkts for my 1x XCX cranks.

Anyway wanted to run the 2x on it for a little more range on extended epic rides I tend to get myself into sometimes...

    Hi JMac,

I find this to be a useful page whenever I need to monkey with my 2012 Spearfish (this page written for your 2011 frame):
    Salsa Cycles

    From this I see:
"Front derailleur requirement is 35mm high clamp - bottom pull (low clamp types don't fit)"

    Hope this helps,
    Paul

Thanks. Yeah that Spearfish segment in the Salsa forum helped me with original build up my frame few years ago. I have the style in 3x, looking for a specific brand/model # someone may have used with a 2x setup. Shop couldn't pin down one and I don't want to wing it ordering online.

I stuck a 32T front on mine, if I can't get up with that, the odds are I can't get up it with anything and it would be quicker walking up anyway

I ran a XX 34.9, high clamp, bottom pull 2x Fd on mine - but just recently took it off and went to 1x10 setup.

Ditto. It's in shop awaiting a longer rr brake line and re-bleed.
