Is Vertex 990 RSL any good?

    Hey

I've got an offer on a 2017 Vertex 990 RSL and I would like to know if it is worth it compared to eg. Trek Procaliber or Epic HT.

I can't really find any reviews on the Vertex? And I can't try it anywhere here in Denmark

Can anybody help? Is the Vertex any good? Or maybe help me find some reviews, all I can find is ~5 year old reviews....

    Thanks
    Jesper

I own a 999 RSL (2016), Medium size (I'm 5'9), and coming from an Epic WC (longer stem and WB), I would say that the Vertex is a lot more nervous, which makes it a playfull bike at low to moderate speed. I also have a Large alloy Vertex, of which I also raised the front sus travel to 120 (allowing a longer reach and slacker HA) ... and feel a huge diffrence in terms of stability. Both are lot's of fun, and depending of your usage, I can testify that I broke most of my Epic-Strava results with the M Vertex.

Thanks. I'm 5'11 so this Large I've been offered sounds ok then.

Sounds like a bike that fits my needs: a really fast bike

Why is that there are almost no reviews of it online?

@jesperjes No review online ? Well, there are barely any review online of hardtail bikes, unless they are real long and/or real slack!

One last thing ... make yourself a favor, and get a 27.2 dropper post. The choices are slim, but you can still find good deals ... online. Have fun.

Yeah I guess hardtails are not that interesting, but here in flat Denmark they're pretty popular

Dropper post is on the list, but as I can see there is not an option for internal cable routing on this frame...

I have a 2017 large. I am 6 feet tall. It is a fast hard tail just like so many others.
If you run a 1x drivetrain you can run the dropper cable through the front derailleur port. You have to drill the hole out slightly. And it is a pain running the cable from the down tube up the seat tube but be patient, it can be done.
