No QR axles front & rear on 2019 Instinct?

A friend got his 2019 Instinct A50 from LBS last week.

After we came back from the first ride, I noticed that there are no QR axle
up front (Fox 34 Float Performance) nor the rear.

I looked at other 2019 Instinct line up models (including BC) and thay all do not have F/R QR.

Any specific reason for that? Is it some kind of weight saving?
Shouldn't QR axles suppose to make wheel removal easier and quicker if necessary? So why not to use it?

    Thanks, Mo.

Its a bit lighter and a bit cheaper OEM side on a large scale. That's pretty much it.

It really dates back to Geoff Kabush and the Kabolt he developed with Fox which was faster to do a wheel change in a World Cup race with the 15mm thru-axle front and a 6mm Allen key in a power drill. Same with the 12mm rear axle. If you have a 6mm Allen key on you it is easier to get them both tightened properly and loosened quickly.

I had switched my 2016 Thunderbolt to the DT Swiss RWS 12mm rear skewer and it was much easier to manage than the 12mm Shimano QR axle. Much easier to get the handle pointed the right way. The Kabolts front and rear are a nice feature.

Thanks for the info and answers!

We ride with a good multitool that has a 6mm Allen key in case it will be needed.
