Im certainly pretty excited for it. Just finished building my Solo 50. The ability to run 650B x 2.2" tires seems like a nice choice for someone that does a bit of everything (paved paths, gravel, adventure, single track, cross)

That is nice! You say you just finished building it. Do you mean as a stock build or from a frame up build? I would love to be able purchase this as just a frameset and build my own, but didn't think that was an option. Love the color too...sweet!

Looking at the Med and that bike looks to have a longer front center than most bikes, especially with cross-like stays at only 425mm. I suspect Rocky made this bike with loads of tire clearance and made it with lighter aluminum tubing. It must ride stable at speed but still handle the tech stuff with that shorter rear-end. Head and seat tube angles are bang on. Been waiting for a bike like this with a longer wheelbase and gobs of tire clearance, but not overly big. Ride report a must!

So I've been ridding this Solo 50 since early spring and am really quite happy with it. Very versatile. I would say just as responsive as my previous cross bike (Kona Jake the Snake), but so many more options in terms of wheel/tire combinations to suit ridding conditions / preferences.

The first thing I did was swap the factory wheels with a set of 29er DT XR 1501 Spline one wheels off my old mountain bike. Set them up tubless with the factory 700 x 40c ravengers. It performed well with the factory wheels, however the upgrade was an instant improvement as the DT wheels are significantly lighter. I've rode it like this all summer, commuting, doing some longer gravel rides with some single track.

I found a good deal on some 650b wheels and tires so ordered them, mounted them tonight and got out for a quick ride. Rear wheel is DT XR 1501 Spline one front wheel is DT X1700. Tires are Maxis Race TT 27.5 x 2.0. I set everything up tubeless. First ride on the new wheels / tires was awesome. The change in wheels / tires dropped the bottom bracket height by only 1/2". Still rolling fast with lots of traction. Had a couple minor pedal strikes ridding single track, but quickly got used to the lower bb height and adapted. Really looking forward to continuing ridding on the new set-up and even doing a CX marathon race this coming weekend. Here are some photos.

All in all, very happy with this bike and always excited for an opportunity to go ride it!

Really nice wheels there! I have a pair of the same 29er Spline 1501, rims only, waiting to be laced. Such a versatile bike is right! To be able to swap wheels and change your ride with ease is something every cross/gravel bike should have going for it. I can remember riding my ol 07 Solo 10 and hitting some gravel wishing I had clearance for bigger wheels/tires. Yours must be a hoot with the Race TT 2.0 out on the trail....enjoy it!
