2018 Fox dps EVOL eyelet bearing removal?

    Hi all!

Im in the process of doing a service on my shock, and im not sure how to remove the bottom eyelet bearings. Once I can remove them, then I can get the air can off to start the service. This is for my 2018 Thinderbolt, so it should apply to most all Rockyís new bikes.

You'll need a blind bearing puller with a 10 mm outer diameter, I think.

Hmm. Iím guessing a blind bearing puller will pull the bearing out of that cup, and then Iíll have the cup still pressed into the shock, which Iím guessing will require another toll that I donít have yet??

Looks like these bad boys are not something that is not listed on the fox website service...

Iím going to try to find a 2 prong bearing puller from an auto parts store and make a rig to get the cups out with the bearings in tact..Ii shall post up later if I succeed!!

I've been doing my best to find the techdoc where RMB specifies exactly what you need. I'll keep searching and post it when I've found it.

You need an 8mm blind bearing puller to get the bearings and sleeve out and then a 10mm to get the cups out

Thatís what it looks like for sure. Making a rig to pull the cups with bearings out failed, so I bought a blind bearing puller set, and a 10mm didnít fit to pull the bearings, so Iím waiting on a 8mm and up set to come in the mail

And having the spec manual and all that Jazz would be AWESOME!

Well im glad I ordered some extra bearings before I pulled the bearings. The bearings were stuck in cups GOOD, so the blind bearing puller would either slip or crack the bearing from overtightening.

Next time I do this, Iím just going to use a dreamel to cut the bearings out. I hope this was an issue of bad tolerances, because this sure sucked.

    Hereís the bearings you need:

    Enduro: 698LLUMAX C3

I wouldnít try this unless you have some spare bearings around.

I replaced my shock recently and I used the standard 5 piece shock hardware, can't say I've noticed any drop in small bump sensitivity

Just curious as to what width of the standard 5 piece shock hardware you ordered for your altitude? I was going to do the RM bearing cup replacement thing but the parts are $37 and "standard shipping" is $16. Seems a little steep for something that is just going to get in the way when I do services or rebuilds. The rear mounting hardware is only $15 from what I can tell. Thank you in advance!

    Cheers,
    Tom
