2011 Flatline Pro Bottom Bracket and Tool

So I have a 2011 RM Flatline Pro and I need to replace or repair something in the bottom bracket. I have a lot of creaking while pedaling. I cant seem to find the correct bottom bracket or the correct tool to remove the one I have to check it out. Any advice? What bottom bracket do they use? Crankset?

Also is there a tip to removing the crankset on these? Struggling with that also.

I got this tool: https://amzn.to/2I3UeaL but it doesn't work... too small

The 2011 Flatline Pro was shipped with a Race Face Respond X-Type BB which is the same tool interface as the Shimano Hollowtech II, so that tool you've linked should work unless the crank and BB have been changed over the past 7 years. Have you owned the bike from new?

If the BB cups don't look like this, it would be helpful to post a picture of what you have

I have not owned the bike from new. Got it in very used shape. So the tool I had did work after all... not sure what I was doing wrong. I got the BB out and it seems fine...

Seems that the cranking noise is from where the pedals mount to the crank. Its a weird design that I have never seen before. The pedals are new and fine, but the bolt they mount to is loose and causing noise...

Has anyone seen this before? What crank is this and how do I fix this loose piece?

Also my BB just says 12-09 on it... no brand or model #... does that mean anything? What size BB does this bike take?

Those are a MRP Camber crankset, and it looks like a piece if missing for the pedal insert, possibly a lockring.

The Flatline uses an 83mm wide BSA threaded bottom bracket.

You could replace the BB and the cranks with something more durable, the Race Face Chester crank arms and 83mm wide BB as a package. Not a bad deal.

Thank you so much man. That is really helpful. I have been trying to figure this out for a while now.

Will that bolt up to the existing chainring and chainstay usually? Or should I order a new chainring also?

The existing chainring should fit on the Chester, the question would be how worn is your chain and cassette, if they are getting on in years, then it would be likely that going for a new chainring would trigger a need for a new chain and cassette.

Gotcha. Do you see any way to repair the existing crack?

I'd say those cranks have passed their best before date. If they still made them you might be able to get parts for the pedal insert, but MRP doesn't build them anymore.

    Done!

Got the Race Face Chester crank, chain reaction went up in price so I got it from amazon.

Did the install, which was pretty easy with the right tools. Did a write up on it to for anyone else tackling this project: https://alex31014.wixsite.com/kuladv...rankset-change
