    Tahoe thigh buster

My legs have been feeling dead lately and on Monday, after smoking me at Auburn, CA, Cohenfive suggested I should take a break. I checked my Garmin Connect stats and it seems I haven't had more than four days off in over a year. I couldn't waste a great Fall day at Tahoe, so today (9/8) I decided to do a big ride and then take a week off. I set out to do a ride I'd done a few weeks ago, but it was going so well I added about six miles. The legs felt pretty good until the last couple uphill miles at the end of the ride.

I did a big round-trip from Mt. Rose: Redhouse, Sunflower, Marlette Lake overlook, The Flume, Hobart, Marlette Lake overlook, Hobart, The Flume, back to Mt. Rose. It's been many years since I went north on The Flume, so I got a few different photos. I'm terrified of heights so I tend to over compensate and go too far to the upside. On the narrowest part of The Flume, with about a 1,500 ft. drop-off, I clipped my handlebar on a big rock and came way too close to the edge!

I've always liked this lone tree.

I clipped my handlebar on that big rock on the left.

A very welcome new singletrack trail to replace a steep, boring, usually hot, fireroad.
