    Slatyfork, My Darling

Slatyfork, My Dear. Why do you treat me this way.

Yes, I was overcome by your rough beauty, your charm

    Sometimes you are sweet

Sometimes you are moody and just downright mean

I only live a few hours away, but I can only come see you a couple times a year. You just plain wear me out. My body can’t take any more than that.

You drag me through the mud

    You scratch me up

Beat me with rocks and sticks

I never know what you are going to throw at me next

You take my friends and you do the same thing to them.

Well I’m not going to take it anymore. I’m not coming back

So don’t try to seduce me with your charm

    It won’t work this time

Cause after the last tumble we had

I’m quite sore, could barely move around for the last 2 weeks. Really.

    So we’re done

I know you have a soft side

But I can’t get past your rough edges

Whats that, you want me to come back?

    When?

    Well, maybe …..After ……These ……Ribs…….Heal up....Just One More Time

nice write-up of the hate-love relationship; I think we all experience those feelings with our more difficult trails.

    that's in WV, correct?

Thanks for the kind comments. It is between Marlinton and Snowshoe Ski Resort in West Virginia. The combination of mud, moss covered logs and bridges, stinging nettles, endless rock gardens, and poor trail maintenance on those trails just kick my butt. But, I always look forward to going back. She is one wild child.
