Shots from the trail and a flooding Colorado.

Yep, more photos... Sorry about the wasted time and bandwidth...

Tuesday the bike path on the Colorado River had a bit of water on it. This was the day that the river was to crest:

    Wednesday the river was higher:

At the boat ramp parking lot:

    Self explanatory:

These next two photos were taken at the same spot, one on April 5, 2011 and one on Tuesday, June 8, 2011:

A bit more water in the June shot:

Yesterday the girls and I hit Holy Cross:

Have a great weekend, everyone. Hope you get out on some singletrack!

    Screampint, what the...?

Did you guys get some recent storm(s) or is this start of snow melt? I've been out here in Prescott for the last few days and haven't seen any signs of rain. SE AZ, and W NM really could use some huh? Tht's terrible what their going thru.

Nice ride pix of you and your gal pals! Fast Girls on mtb's, woohoo!

Send some of that water to AZ!!! We need it bad before we all burn up here... Everything is dry here, and we have really seen the difference out in the desert: few flowers, wildlife down, then fires and trail closures. We need rain...
Nice pictures tho Screampint... where is Holy Cross?

It's the snowmelt. There's still a ton of snow up high, at least for now. Usually the melt off starts earlier, but this year we had a long cool spring and it kept snowing up high. That created the perfect flooding conditions, because the later it stays cool, the faster it heats up when it does, so the melt goes fast! It would be nice if the weather cooperated for the firefighters.

Another fine batch of pics, all that snow finally started to melt and run downhill.

Seems that flooding is the story everywhere this spring. Flooding on the Souris and Missouri rivers in ND too. Snow melt and a late, wet spring are to blame here too.
"There are those who would say there's something pathological about the need to ride, and they're probably on to something. I'd wager though that most of the society-approved compulsions leave deeper scars in the psyche than a need to go and ride a bicycle on a mountain." Cam McRea
