    New Year's Resolution Time

It's that time of year again. I have some repeat resolutions from last year but I try to move forward every year as well.

    1. Ride every month (missed last May after a broken elbow, the year before that I was on vacation most of the month and couldn't find a rental bike) seem to have something the keeps me off the bike one month every year. - Repeated Unsuccessful Resolution
    2. Get down to 185#. New resolution for this year. Just my biking goals a little more attainable by hauling around less me. - New Resolution
    3. Get a new job - Completed resolution from last year but I don't technically start until 2 January.
    4. 1000 Fatbike miles. - New Resolution.
    5. 2000 Commuting miles - Carryover successful resolution from last year.
    6. Get my wrist fixed - Repeated unsuccessful resolution. Keep postponing the surgery and it keeps getting more painful. Gonna have to bite the bullet at some point but that will tank resolution #1.

Pray that EA doesn't take over mountain biking or we will have to open loot crates for credits for mountain bike trips.

My 2018 resolution is to ride more and enjoy more places.
I don't use Strava. Don't need an application to tell me I am slow because I already know.

same resolutions as last year for me:
    1. ride 8000kms (@7512kms this year, so wont make it )
    2. drink less beer (bound to fail, but ya gotta start somewhere)

    + a new one:
    3. build a new bike, steel (preferably Titanium), 3" tyres, rigid but maybe a sus fork, possibly retro, well at least try to decide what I want to build
    always mad and usually drunk......

My resolution is to find a mountain bike forum where all the good positive threads don't get buried by all the shit shows!

    Any recommendations?
My brain went from "you probably shouldn't say that" to WTF!

Take one ride where the goal is to pick up trash along the trail.

...and start getting rid of old stuff that I don't use.

...and do some kind of strength exercises when I'm not riding.

    -F
It's never easier - you just go faster.

Only had one resolution for 2017... keep my side of the room tidy ^^

I actually did it (am still doing it) [is this thread a little premature? Have you spoken to your GP about this issue?]

2018 = do my first full Enduro race ^^ maybe even 2 of them...

Usually don't do resolutions, but after the worst rough patch of the last 15yrs, I'm resolved to doing some core work and hyperextensions at least every other day. Soon as I'm actually able to, anyway. Should have been doing that all along, as it seems to minimize issues with my back.
And hopefully that will translate into realizing my other resolution: to ride more

Oh, and finish cleaning out my basement(almost there!). Setting up my "bike shop" in its own 10'x12' space with a bike stand, and soon a dedicated tool cabinet.
    That'll be pretty sweet...

I resolve to ride bikes, drink beer, spend time with good friends and get as far from civilization as I can get whenever possible.

    Just like every year.

I used to got to the gym regularly and dreaded Jan. Fortunately, by mid Feb the crowd had pretty much thinned back out to normal.

    Cool-blue Rhythm

At My Local Trail head, every year:
Early January about 15 new bikes with Fat guys show,
Late January only 10,,ok ok so Its a little cold wutufu..
February we are down to 6 or 7,
March maybe ONE of the original 15ish still shows up,

Spring weather In late march we are back to 6 or 7 of the original couch potato's.
By June when the heat comes back we are back down to ONE and he Has a new better bike.

And he Is a little less fat :P

As for the other 14 ish riders, hey, they each have some nice garage wall art and can tell stories and point to the bike on the wall.
Or sell It and get a softer couch ~~~

I'm gonna ride more to temper the 7th decade padding, and work harder to help bring the conclusions of this to happen: https://www.facebook.com/RBReich/vid...3065519706036/

I gave up sweets 3 weeks ago. Its hard. Get a support staff for success with this.

I plan on getting my ride time up. But its hard when Im recovering from an injury but Im motivated thats for sure.

I went searching for last years thread like this. I failed, but If I found it I could copy and paste what I said last year into this thread and still be hopeful of making my goals.
