    The soundtrack to your ride

I was watching this video () and at about 1:53 and 2:02 one of the riders lets out a couple of silly noises as he's riding. This got me thinking about what I do when I'm really going for it on a nice section of trail. I will sometimes start singing (usually some metal or top 40 hip hop) or just let out David Lee Roth-ish screams (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IArxakPsPE0), which brings me to my question. Am I the only one that does this sort of thing, or are there others out there to make me look less crazy?

No, you are crazy... As for 'singing' hip hop, are you serious?

Cross-country: has to be "Get Dirty" by Robin Moore

Uphill: without a doubt "The Desert" from The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. Seriously what is more appropriate for a gruling uphill than the second half of this track?

Downhill: Lots of good choices here.

Hey, cool, I was just thinking about this a week ago!
So far my riding soundtrack is... a bit... eclectic =)
    It consists of:
Voodoo Chile- Jimi Hendrix, (had this in my head going over singletrack, and the off road track behind my house)
How Can I Keep From Singing?- Church Hymn (this was at the top of a hill during the lesson I had last week)
Free My Soul- Kaos Kontrol (general good tune to have in my head while biking, the singer for this band bikes too, and the guitarist was a damn fine adrenaline junky + is very close to my heart )
Just a Kitty cruisin' in the Rockies with her Pumpkin (TREK 820)

last year in a race I found myself repeating "Seek and Destroy" by Metallica in my head, nothing out loud though. it was my best race of the year.

The Prodigy "Smack my ***** up" really gets me going too. i'm not a big techno guy but that beat just gets me going

Deftones - Passenger. It is not my power song, but when I concentrate on screaming the chorus I get chills.

    op that's an awesome video.

Usually when I'm flowin' I have either Poppin' A wheelie!-The Aquabats or Learn To Fly-Foo Fighters

But when I'm getting technical and fast i like listening to almost anything by The Hives, usually Statecontrol then Bigger Hole To Fill

    Learn To Fly-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dwuzqF6huc

Statecontrol-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYmcKfTXuBE (this is the best one that sounded like the studio version)

For me... the big knobbies thumping out an adrenaline rushing drum and bass riff on rock and the wind whistling through my ears interspersed with the occasional grunt, exclamation, or school-girl giggle which involuntarily escapes my lips provide all the sound track I need.

A veritable symphony of sonorous sounds.

My mind just keeps playing Jimi Hendrix riffs over and over again, pretty much from all the groups he was in, and from all his albums. Reminds me of the good ’ol days back in the 1990s when I was doing lots of psilocybin shrooms. I don’t need a Walkman (LOL!) iPod (dangerous riders seem to wear them on the trails, they have no idea I want to pass them until I belt out with the 12V CAR HORN!!!), as the music is deeply rooted into my brain.
Uh oh! Someone just stole your KOM!

Cool thread dude. I don't really know what songs are in my head but I do a lot of hooting and David Leeroth-ish screaming too especially after some fast downhill switchback sections. I do rock out when I'm training in the gym though usually its to "Rage Against the Machine",Tool or Korn.

Hey I have a question to anyone that can help. A couple weeks back I was on my local trail and this guy was riding down as I was going up and he had some kind of external speaker setup rockin some metal that I assume was connected to his IPOD or the like. Anyway does anyone know a cool moderately loud setup like that, and where you could get some? I think that would be cool for solo trips and probably safer than ear buds so you can still be aware of your surroundings. Thanks in advance rcp916 I thought I'd throw in a pic of my bike too cause I just finished it. It's a 04' chase DJ that I use as an AM now cause Im strange like that.

I have a small set of speakers that use four AA batteries. I only use it when we take our annual fly-in fishing trip to Northern Ontario, no electric, for use when we play cards at night.

My playlist is Pink Floyd, any and all songs.

I've found the music I listen to while driving to the trail actually makes a difference in my ride. At least the first uphill anyway. My usual Sunday morning classical does nothing for physical motivation.

I've been playing either one of these lately.

I don't listen to music while I'm riding, but it's very important on the car ride out there. One of our go-to's is Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream, particularly the track 'Hummer.'

I usually have something stuck in my head while I'm riding, and it's usually terribly random. For instance, last week I had "Friends" by Flight of the Conchords stuck in my head while I was tackling a nasty climb. And the past couple of days, I've been feeling Die Antwoord while cruising the desert singletrack. I always lose the song in my head when I hit tech stuff though.

When driving to and from the ride, I like to hype with RHCP, particularly the more energetic songs from the Californication album ("Purple Stain" is my favorite, followed by "I Like Dirt" appropriately enough!)

+1000 for the Ennio Morricone! His soundtracks are perfect for riding here in the Arizona desert.
I can;t typically listen to anything with lyrics when I ride, it takes my focus off of the trail too much.
Heres a few in my playlist:
Another western-inspired album, the Red Dead Redemption Soundtrack

For fast and flowy stuff, Blockhead does the trick:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0F01tB9b7-s

But as for the ride to and from the trail, Rush usually gets me pumped.
