The Nox, a spring like day in January

What a picture perfect Saturday afternoon for it to be in January in Mississippi!

Nitro, Spartacus and I, rode and played in the creeks all afternoon.

Here's a few images from our afternoon spent in the Tombigbee National Forest.

Nitro and Spartacus playing in the creek below the Log Jump Creek ford.

As of right now, the sand from the heavy rains have made the creek ford perfect for riding across.

The high rez of this image shows the droplets to Nitro's splash really good.

Nitro on the CW Trail, between the Log Jump/Long Bridge/CW Trailhead and Noxubee Hill Rd.

At the crest to of the hill on the CW Trail 2 miles from the South Trailhead.

Spartacus watching over Nitro as he takes a break in the middle of climbing Lady Nox's "Hill Of Pain"

Zach catching up and passing us on the "Hill Of Pain". Spartacus has yet to learn to yield to approaching riders.

And here's my parting shot. Loaded up and moving out.

Sure hope we get more days like this as spring slowly approaches!
It was like the good old days of living in the once warm south.

Sweet! I wish Alabama and Mississippi had more trails than they do...

Around here, we've got the trails. Just lack the manpower.

    Take "The Nox" for example...
There is almost 30 miles of trails, mostly single track with some sections of closed service roads.
Lady Nox and her husband Mr. John do all the trail maintenance during the weekdays, then on weekends after some storms have passed through or after Lady Nox's "call for help", myself and a handful of other riders will show up to help.
Then on large scheduled workdays, large groups from throughout MS will show up to help on major projects.
The Nox could easily qualify for the "Epic Status", we just don't have the IMBA charted mtn bike club that it takes for the status.
Over 2 years ago we had a IMBA class and workday.
So we try our best to see that all new trails and reroutes are built to IMBA standards.

Great pics. I've ridden Nox once and I'll definitely make it back soon. Awesome trails through some beautiful hardwoods. Well maintained and well marked as well.
If you ever see a turtle on a telephone pole, remember he had help getting there. Is there anything beer can't do?
