    November Maine

Friday nights’ ride was the start of a new season of biking. It was 31 F when we started and near 24 F when we finished. Water from the stream crossings was frozen to our frames and rims. And the mantra of “this will only help when Boarding season starts” pushed us to keep pulling in breaths of fire.

Then Sunday came along. You’ll not hear me complain about the out of the normal weather. It gave us an excuse to venture up to Maine and play on a little mountain.

It seemed a little brisk as I suited up at the meeting spot. Riding across ice crystals heaving from the ground on the initial climb gave hints to the recent weather in the area. But the sun was blazing and we were on bikes in the woods.

Throughout the day we all pushed our selves. Some gauged success by cleaning a tech section or drop. I pushed myself to climb with the angry midget and try to capture the memories.

We didn’t set any records for ride time. But we did for pure fun. When we found something that caught our eye, we played.

We even came across an ecological nightmare. The rare chronic wasting disease brought on by contact with an even rarer species of rubber that is only found in widths less than 3 inches and diameters larger than 26 inches.

Somehow we managed to put the tragedy behind us and move on. But we’ll never truly be the same.

Excellent post as always Brian....killer photos - thank you for sharing!

I rode a couple local trails this past weekend in the Boston area - couldn't have asked for better weather on both days!

Where abouts in Maine is this trail? Looks nice!

I might get flamed by someone for this, but you can see this "mountain" from the I-95 bridge in Portsmouth, NH.

Well once again New England gets great representation...thanks B.
Your bike can take you anywhere, anytime, over any terrain but, you have to force it to GK 2004. BB1, who started it?
