... and if we just ... Local Epic Ride

So I talked my friend into doing a longish local ride and some exploring at some less traveled fireroads and turned up to be a fun day on the bike.

One of the best things about it was being able to start right off my driveway but before we explore there was some climbing to do.

And sometimes you got to stop and smell the flowers.

    At the top.

    Me

    And then head east.

The new-to-me fireroads turned out ok, fun rollercoaster like up and down.

We ended up with just under 26 miles and over 3000 feet of climbing, that makes it an epic ride on my book.
    Good times

Great pics. I envy you. Location, please? What do you mean by local? Do you live next to this trail? Then, I hate you even more.

Sweetwater near Chula Vista and yes local means just over a mile ride to the trailhead but the ride was done by linking several trails in the area, to do this we had to ride about four miles on pavement.

Thanks for the info. I have been dreaming about moving to CA since I moved to the States. I cannot wait.

Your trail looks fantastic, the longer climbs the better, endurance mtb is my favourite kind of riding. My wife hates me for it since she can barely walk after 30 miles but I love it.

LOL! Trust me if it was up to me I would be out there every day.

I should had made clear this trails don't usually look this green, we normally have a couple of weeks long spring so got to get out there when I can before it turns brown and dry the rest of the year.

Nice shots! I have always wondered if there is good riding in Chula Vista. Driving through the mountains look perfect for trails but I haven't seen or read much about riding in the area (until now!).
