    Femoral Artery Injury

    Hello,

I'm a 39 year old male roadie, decided to dust off the mtn. bike this year and do a few races as our road season ended a bit early. Long story short, had a stupid low speed crash and the end of the handle bar jabbed in the pelvic area, rupturing the inner wall of the femoral artery. My Doctor dosen't think it's more than a bad bruise, so off on my 2 week vacation I go. A bit off topic, my Brother In Law lives in Squamish, BC, some of the most amazing trails, more then worth the trip for anyone looking for a riding vacation.
A week in my leg was getting worse, so I had to seek medical attention, they find the rupture and a few days later I'm in surgery. So instead of riding up the countless climbs, I was staring at them through my hospital window.
I'm wondering if anyone has had the same type of injury or knows of someone who has. I was only able to talk to the Surgeon for a few minutes the whole week I was there, his Interns did the day to day work. I didn't seem like they were used to dealing with someone very athletic, and depending on which Doctor I asked about recovery and when I can resume riding, it could be 4 weeks, it could be 4 months. They refered me to a vascular surgeon where I live, but he's not accepting new appointments until mid December earliest. With no kids and an amazing Wife, I average at least 18,000km a year, so this inactivity is driving me crazy.

    Thanks for reading.

I am kinda conflicted ... I hate lawyers, but one of my good friends, and a person I really admire, became a lawyer.
