The same people (person) ruins it for everyone

How many times can the same person bend/break the rules, ruin any chance at having a "conversation", and continue to be an active member here without getting so much as a time-out?

Threads are getting locked, political BS is being posted all over the place, and this guy is still allowed to continue posting??

    It's getting old.

Seriously though, I'm genuinely sick of reading it, and I try to avoid it whenever possible because I know what it's going to be about.

People have been warned and put in time-out for MUCH MUCH less. Why does this guy get a pass?

    This. A thousand times this.

I moderate on what I see, which isn't everything but I moderate consistently on what gets reported. The more reports the more moderators will act. I can't be everywhere at all times but DJ can. Make him do it.

When 95% of someone's posts fall into the arguing category, they should be asked to change their attitude on the site or leave.
This post is a natural product. Variances in spelling & grammar should be appreciated as part of its character & beauty.

Wait a second, Moderators aren't supposed to have a sense of humor, are they? If we make DJ a Mod he's just going to create a sub forum for mullets, bad parking, old geometry, imaginary coyotes, and Starbucks.

Actually, that forum doesn't exist yet and I'm kind of curious what would come out of it???

I think it's fun reading y'alls nit picking back and forth on the banned topics! I've been on some other forums where there's a "VIP" section where anything goes, and you usually get a sticker or shirt or something to be proud of after an annual donation.

Thanks emu from another thread reminded me of this

Vader and I have some disagreements from time to time, but Iíd bet that 95% of his posts here are on-topic and generally helpful. And heís not a sock, AFAICT.

I donít believe he is the person the OP had in mind. Hell, Iím more likely to be the person in question than Vader.

I'm not shy about hitting the report button for shit that's clearly out of bounds (OC or not). If it's who I think you're talking about, I've reported quite a few out-of-bounds posts in the past and whatever mod(s) has reviewed those reports has not gone any further than sending a private message to chill. No time-outs at all. I eventually gave up and don't even venture into threads where I can see said person participating.

The block function on this site is shit.
    1. you still see that the person has posted and is participating in the discussion
    2. if someone else quotes that person, then you still see it. the quote function is so widely used, blocking is completely useless.

The way the block function SHOULD work is now Facebook does it. Not only are you unable to see the other person's presence, but they are unable to see yours. Gone. No further interactions. Of course that goes to this forum software being trash and at least a decade out-of-date to begin with.

I've been to two MTBR gatherings(the first Fuita and September by the Sound) and hosted and guided MTBR members when I lived in Oregon.

I'm sure most of are climbing the walls during this time and have frazzeled nerves. Each of us has their own situation to deal with. I notice when I'm becoming an ahole and give myself a break from offcamber.

I know smart guys on both sides of the aisle. It's not anyone's personal politics that gets me, it's that they can't put it away for even a minute. The depth of how socially retarded these guys are is amazing and offensive.

    A story...

A man walks into a gun shop and asks to buy a gun. Perfect. Just how the world should work.

Later, the same man goes to the candy shop and asks to buy a gun. The candy man tells him he's bad and guns are bad and proceeds to argue at length about the topic. They dig in their heels and raise their voices and both of them forget....they are surrounded by CANDY.

So now the man has come into our bake shop and has asked to buy a gun. I don't want to talk about guns. I want to talk about muffins and cookies and fresh baguettes. It's not our business to convince him he doesn't want a gun. Our job is to make him want cupcakes.

edit...DJ, substitute "Burrito Stand" where it says "Bake Shop" and "margarita" where it says " cupcakes" and it will make more sense to you.
Well my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle.

I donít know how I got dragged into this thread about those that get threads closed. Hey, if you donít like what I post Iíd be happy to sit it out and let the hardheaded pricks debate political views. Sounds like a fun OC that would gain many more members. Let me know, Iím already one foot out these days anyway. Iíll be over hear popping the popcorn.

Correct me if I am wrong but our payment is the satisfaction of participating in a well oiled machine and contributing to the highly important task of an enthusiast website about expensive toys that we are all way too serious about. That right there is better than any compensation one could ever have!

I donít live here, itís just a nice place to visit. I avoid (eg: resist opening) threads that appear likely to contain political or controversial content. So I have zero idea who yíall are talking about, but Iím as curious as can be.

In the interest of knowing who the troublemakers are, wonít someone finger the bloke? Thanks.
