Magura's Marta SL Now Available in Red or Gold Finishes

    June 19, 2006

Magura USA recently introduced its full line of 2007 hydraulic disc brakes and all new suspension products. The popular Marta SL brake has received a colorful makeover and is now available in anodized Red or Gold colors.

The Marta SL is a common sight on the bars of pros and weekend warriors worldwide. Two-time World Cup XC Champ Christoph Sauser, Multi-X NORBA XC Champ Tinker Juarez, Multi-X World and NORBA 24-Hour Champs Cristina Begy and Monique Sawiki have all counted on Marta SL's to deliver championships. Now these riders and others can show their true colors with the latest colored Marta SL's. Jeff Enlow, Magura USA General Manager, says, "We made some custom one-off Gold brakes three years ago to congratulate Cristina Begy on her 24-Hour World Championship, and we haven't stopped hearing requests for them since. The logical conclusion was to give our customers what they wanted." Magura will not only be producing the highly sought-after Gold Marta SL's but has also introduced a Red version as well. Team Specialized has already been running the Red brakes, and they will be available soon for consumers.

The Marta SL, with its beautifully hi-tech carbon fiber lever blades, is the lightest hydraulic disc brake available at 324 grams. The Marta SL features an integrated reservoir, lever reach adjustment and is pre-bled and ready to mount. This year the brakes also offer rotor options of 180mm and 203mm for added stopping power. Marta SL has consistently been rated the best hydraulic disc brake. In 2002 the Marta SL received accolades for its design by winning the prestigious IF Design Award, one of the most important design competitions worldwide. Recently, Mountain Bike Action's [January 2006] 'Disc Brake Shootout' resulted in the Marta SL taking "Best Overall" honors.

Based in Bad Urach, Germany, Magura has been a leader in hydraulics engineering and technology for over 100 years. Magura innovations have included the first ever hydraulic mountain bike brake [1987] and the first "adjust-on-the-fly" motorcycle clutch lever for off-road racing legend Malcom Smith [1968]. Magura USA, located in Olney, IL, provides sales and technical support for North America.
