They were selling frames for the 148 rear models. I see a lot of interest on this forums for frame purchases. Dont know why 157 makes a difference people can figure their builds but I guess pivot disagrees. The M5.5 frame was 3400 for dpx2 and closer to 4k for the x2. Ibis is at 2999 for a Ripmo and you can get better than that if you try.

Anyway the M 429 is due as is the Switchblade for 2019 update. M429 should stay 148 and SB will stay 157. My SB main issue was the 157 rear and the ST angle could have been a few degrees steaper. Otherwise it is a fun bike.

Mach 5.5 frames can be had online around $2700ish right now so the deal on those is getting better

Humm a 160 f 135r travel all round bike w 29 wheels. Sounds like a Switchblade to me

I just heard that they are working on a shock setup for a 29er 5.5 that will be released next year..
If it's a replacement of the SB or something between the SB and the FB29 I don't know. It's for sure not a Trail 29 .

Gotcha, yeah, a new Switchblade or Switchblade-type bike would make sense in the next year or so. I'd assume they'd up the travel a little like they did with the newest Trail 429. I have no inside info or knowledge of anything though.

Can't imagine how they'd make the Switchblade better TBH.

I love my SB but wouldn't mind the SA to be steeper the HA a little slacker and the frame a little longer (kind of what happens to every bike these days). I think the travel 160/135 is good. If it goes up to 140 or even 150 in the rear I wouldn't complain..

New Switchblade soon? A bunch of Firebirds and Switchblades showed up on PB lately. Mid and LT 29rs are in demand with the recent geo updates and 44mm forks.

I'm pretty sure that Pivot is working on a new Switchblade to fill the gap between the new Trail 429 and Firebird 29. Sea Otter Classic starts on April 11 and looks like a great time to launch an updated SB

I would love an updated LES; modern XC Race Geo, Stepcast 34 fork and a dropper post. Gimme 3!

I would love being able to select parts in the bike config for a semi custom build to leverage economy of scale. 10/10 it would be cheaper for pivot to get that stepcast fork, put their markup on it and sell it to me than for me to go buy it out in the real world. Having built up plenty of frame only bikes over the years, even if a complete comes with bars I don't like I'm fine with swapping them out with some I do. It forces me to try parts/sweeps/angles I wouldn't normally go for to confirm decisions I've made many moons ago.
