Yeah the most recent lunar eclipse, Jan 31, 2018. My fancy camera is a Canon 80D (crop sensor). That one (and this one below) were shot with a slightly damaged 75-300 canon zoom lens that I got for $25 on eBay. The wider star shots were shot with a Rokinon 14mm 2.8 manual focus (awesome night sky lens for under $350). The star shots are stacked and manually aligned in photoshop to reduce noise. Around 10 or 11 exposures for the pinpoint stars, over 300 exposures for the star trails.

Some awesome shots in this thread! Thanks for sharing guys (and gals?)

I went to a lantern fest before I had my fancy camera... gotta do that again. I was thinking about how cool a long exposure would look from like a quarter mile away....

A bike light can be used to shine a little light on something, painting with light I think they call it. A little practice could be in order

People are always puzzled that I go night time mountain biking so I love trying to capture some of that feel lit only the bike lights:

This is 11pm at night lit by the moon and still handheld at 1/20:

While this one was a long exposure at half eleven lit by the moon, I like the eerie light and shadow the moon creates:

A standard shot at the same time looked like this:

Trailside repairs are a normal part of a ride:

As is the post ride refreshment:

The algorythm that the site uses to resize and reduce size of the file usually ruins minor detail, such as the texture on the wall. It also adds some weird sharpening that emphasizes the borders too much. The same photo looks much better on my PC. Not that is bad on the site, but not as good as it is.
