Where to Ride Appalacian Trail in Central Pa??

Does anyone know If there are any MTB trails to ride there?

Coming from Lancaster Pa. I see the trail is above Reading and Harrisburg Pa.

There is absolutely no riding on the AT - it's Hiker-Only Trail in every state it crosses.

In the eastern US it seems that mtb have been pretty much banned from the long distance hiking trails. There may be sections of the North Country Trail open to bikes, plus the Allegheny Trail down in WV is open to bikes (though I hear parts of it are barely maintained). But no bikes at all on the Appalachian Trail.

You can check this thread for some ideas of where to look for rides in SE PA:

If what you're looking for is long distance singletrack trails, then you might want to check the Bikepacking forum here on mtbr as well as bikepacking.net. But let me warn you, though there are a bunch of National Forests down the spine of the Appalachians, there hasn't been much done to make public a long distance linked up mostly singletrack route. There has been some work done lately in Virginia that is promising looking - check the Virginia forum for more details.

Just so you know, the Mid-State Trail here in PA is also no-biking.

    Good job!

Seems the state is hooked on long in length rail trails...

...but I hear the Pittsburgh guys have a 100 mile mt top singletrack trail in the planning.

Sign up for the Wilderness 101 if ya wanna do a long ride!
