Swatara and Stony Valley R/T 2/28/15

Swatara was barely rideable with a fat, but patience was required as the small strip of packed snow was hard to stay in control...

...and Stoney Valley R/T was unridable, they do not allow snowmobiles on it...

Yeah, I hit Swatara on Saturday too. A and B were okay, like you said you had to stay on a 5" wide path. Go off for a second and you're in 10-12" deep snow. I enjoyed the blue skies and sunshine while relaxing with a cup of tea at the B/C log seat.

The riding on a local foot path with 3-4" of fresh powder on top of packed snow on Sunday was a blast though!

I walked Swatara, trail A1, today and there is still a lot of ice on the trails. Maybe it will dry out in a week or two?

Just checked it out myself at 12:45

I'm afraid a solid week or two. We need warmth, and SUN. This is solid ice, and that takes a long time to melt.
