Scott, park at the Rt 29 lot, there is a path that leads into 5858, when you hit 5858 turn left walk down from there, should be about 75 yards to the downed tree!

Hope that helps and thanks for helping...

Yea, I was planning to slip in from 29, hopefully it's leaning enough to fall mostly off the trail and keep the hauling to a minimum

    Good job!

    Time for a surprise...

...no the nice lady in the pic isn't attending the ride tonight... LOL

I will be leading an adventure ride tonight that no one I know of has been on. It's not the LSF ride that we go on once in a while, and still leaves from the Main Gate, at 6 PM, but traveling to a totally different location. There will be a few paved road crossings, but not "riding" paved roads. Dogs are welcome, just monitor them at the road crossings. Some climbing, but not NFS style, and it is a few miles that everyone can handle. This is an enjoyable out and back ride, and bring a snack or sandwich to enjoy at the mid point near a great place to be, once you see it I'm sure you will agree. We can do a few mOOn trails at the end if your interested.

    Ride da Adventure...
    ...it just gets better

    Good job!

Thanks for attending the big adventure...

...like Scott said at the end, some days are harder than others. 5858 being wet was much harder, the trees that fell since the last time I was on that trail messed things up, but It is just my effort to expand our riding opportunities, and as you can see it is a corridor that can be improved into a great way to more riding. Yes, it was old school mt biking, where no one trims and grooms that trail, and you just ride and encounter what lies in your path.

Might be a little poetic, but if ya looked around you might just have seen some great highlights, tall pine trees and the carpet of needles they provide, plus the crystal clear creek and the dam with all the rain we received was at full capacity flowing over at a thunderous roar. The best of all was something seen only once in a lifetime, newly hatched goose chicks, and how the adults hid them from predators.

As far as first improvements, I already saw a way we can avoid "one" guard rail road crossing.

First of all I gotta say that 58 really trashed me. That's ok though. Tells me that I have to get in better shape and learn how to ride all the great trails at the mOOn!!

I have to agree that even though I didn't finish the ride with you guys, that was a real mountain bike ride. Checking out the scenery, fallin' down, and riding where there aren't any trails, but eventually will be. It's what my buddies and I did many, many years ago. Thanks for nostalgic adventure guys. Hopefully soon I'll be able to do all the rides at a good speed.

    Good job!

    Glad you understand...

...and we gotta hand it to cr500(Scott) who cleared the tree off 5858 and in turn got pretty beat up... thanks Scott the trail was open and ridable.

Back to topic, every ride is an adventure and you never know what you will encounter or expect out there in the woods, at times thinking you have all within your control only to find out you are a small element in the big picture!

    More beautiful pics coming... LOL

Scott, glad that you weren't badly hurt. Trails all over need guys like you, Lee and the others who help to keep all trails clean, Make sure there are at least 2 people there for the cutting part. I speak from experience!! Good job cleaning 58 and thanks to you!!
