Places to off road ride from Scranton to Harrisburg

Hi! I'm planning a little road trip from Maine down to Florida (to attend a mtb camp) and packing my mtb. I want to try to hit every state I pass through to do a little ride. Any suggestions (that are not too far away from I-81) between Scranton and Harrisburg? I am a newbie when it comes to single track, so not really looking at anything too technical, I would even consider just a trail to loosen up my legs and get some fresh air.
This is my very first post! I hope to document my experience and will post on this forum.
    Cheers!

    North to South, nearest towns

    Moosic Mt Earl's Preserve, Dunmore

    Mocanaqua Loop, Wilkes Barre

Swatara State Park, Tower City Pa, not far off Rt81, great place with concentric loops and lots of flow!

    Mt Gretna, Harrisburg

There are more just a sample, google each for more info!

    Great first post welcome aboard...

You will want to avoid Gretna. It's about 35-40 minutes off of I-81, and not along your path. However, it's an excellent place to ride a mountain bike. It can be incredibly challenging, as some trails are very, very full of chunky rocks.

Swatara, you will literally pass right by on 81. Get off Exit 90, turn left, turn left again, drive 5 minutes and you are there. OR, get off exit 108 (Pine Grove) turn right, and drive about 15 miles until you get to State Park Lane.

It's about as technical as the interstate is, so it's a fine place to get out and spin. It's a trail system designed for a cardio workout, not a "mountain bike" ride.

Thanks for the info! Swatara looks like the best option for me. I'll make sure to update.

Swatara is a great place to ride.

Directions off Rte. 81 are easy.
Exit off 81 onto Rte 443 westbound.
Drive approximately 7.2 miles and turn left onto State Park Lane (Chapel Drive, opposite side on your Right.)
Drive down about .25 mile to trailhead. Note there are two parking lots. The lower 'main parking lot' and an upper overflow lot.

Swatara's singletrack trails are composed of 6 loops (and connecting trails).
Simplest way to ride is to make a right (counter-clockwise) at every intersecting trailhead. ( I actually prefer D and A2 loop clockwise.)
Grab a map if they are available at the trailhead. Take a photo of the large map on your phone as a backup.
