    Pittsburgh trails

    Hello all,
I'm headed North this weekend to vista the In-laws and i'd like to find some single track to get me out of the the house for a few hours. Any recommendations within an hour or so drive from the Pittsburgh area? No trail too tuff. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You may want to check out North Park and also Moraine State Park

North Park and Moraine are probably 2 of the best, but there are many riding opportunities. Check out: North Park | PTAG - Pittsburgh Trails Advocacy Group for information such as parks, trail head locations and links to trail maps.

Where in Pittsburgh? There are tons of parks with enough trails to keep anyone busy for at least one day. Which side of town you'll be in really makes a difference as to which park is worth visiting...

I'd second Moraine (north of the city near New Castle) especially if it's been wet recently. Just keep in mind it's a bit rocky and technical there.

He was asking for trails that aren't too tough. Moraine is what I would consider to be one of the toughest parks in the Pittsburgh area, if not the toughest. I've seen people get 100 yards out of the parking lot, give up and turn around. I love it for precisely that, technical trails composed of mostly rocks and lots of boulder features to ride over. But it isn't recommended for someone looking for "No trail too tuff". ;-)

North Park is a better option for a casual to intermediate ride. Frick Park is an option in the city. The trails are harder to find but flag down a local rider and they'll point you to the trail heads.

How'd it turn out JoeP, did you get to ride any Pittsburgh trails?

haha I had to re-read the original post. It said " No trail too tuff." I took that to mean that No trail is too tough, but I think you're correct dfiler. He likely meant trails that aren't too tough.

Moraine was on singletracks.com "10 most technical trails in the world list". That may be a stretch but its definitely tough.

See, that's what I thought - 'No trails are too tough for me to ride."

If he's wanting to keep AWAY from tough trails, then he should keep away from Moraine!!
