    Pittsburgh Riders

Hey! I recently graduated from school out in Cleveland where I started biking. (Road and Mountain) Since I moved back I haven't really gotten the chance to know the area for MTB as I was bikeless until last week. I have done a ton of riding in Cleveland and a handful of stuff on the west coast and in Australia.

Anyways, I picked up a solid bike last week and am now looking for people interested in going on weekly/whenever rides in Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas. I don't really know how or where to get started but am open to anything and would love a crew to go with. I know Frick has some stuff but again I really don't know how to get started there. I would consider myself a mid-level rider but seriously up for any level riding. Let me know if anyone has any advice and/or interest in hitting the trails. Cheers.

    Patrick.

    Here's a good start:

Parks & Maps | PTAG - Pittsburgh Trails Advocacy Group

Where around Pittsburgh are you? Some local shops run regular and impromptu rides, events on Facebook, etc.
Oh noes. I'm going to drink the Kool-Aid.

Check out the facebook group "GMOB - Grown Men on Bikes (Pittsburgh)". It's a group of riders who often group ride and compete. They'll probably ask in private message how you discovered the group and approve your request, but I'm sure they will plug you in well with the mountain biking community there. Every other night it seems they post events for group rides.

    Here's their page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/grownmenonbikes/

options A. go ride frick and surrounding areas a bunch and explore and learn the trails. Then go learn other trails.

option B. find PORC, or other group rides around the area and ride with them

option C. all of the above.

I'm also looking to meet some people. Not sure where to start, I'm about as new as you can get... just bought my first quality mountain bike, and my first bike of any sort since about 10 - 15 years ago.

Pretty excited, and very eager to learn. Would love some suggestions on where/when!

    Thanks

Cheers to the maps. I live 15 minutes East of the city.

I have looked into PORC and am planning to ride with them next week.

So is GMOB radder than PORC?

    Cleveland does suck.

Here's the thing. I have attempted Frick once or twice but I have no idea where to find trails. Is there any easy method?

I live about 2 blocks from Frick and ride there regularly. I'm not exactly what you'd call "fast" but I know the trails pretty well and can help you find your way around. PM me if you need a tour guide. I'll probably be going out tomorrow...

    D!cks!! j/k

I live in the south hills, do regular rides every Sunday, either south park or north park (with my little group). I ride on average 5 days a week, but dont consider myself fast. I ride for fun, not to break strava records....
