    Mass 2018

It's been slow on here recently. Saw this news release on PB and thought it might get some discussion on riding going again...

    https://www.pinkbike.com/news/mid-at...-schedule.html

Any recommendations for a good enduro for a first time racer from those who've competed before? Any place on your must ride list?

I'm planning to hit Glen Park when spring finally comes, and have always wanted to ride Rattling Creek.

Glen is probably the best place to start out in that series. Bear Creek and Steel City get a little rough, techy, and pedally (especially Steel City).

Blue Mountain is the outlier since its the only lift access race. Last year was a lot of fun because there was no DH race to worry about. They cut it to down to four slightly mellower stages and were able to incorporate a lot that normally isn't possible on an ESC weekend with 2 races going down at the same time.

    Never rode the others.

I've ridden Bear Creek, and think I've ridden the Steel City course if it's at Salisbury or South Mt Emmaus.

Does the Glen Park enduro map get you to most of the good stuff there? It seems like an easier place to get around based on the map and smaller area it's packed into. Any hints on trails to ride there would be appreciated.

Yeah Steel City is the Sals trails.

I've only been to Glen Park once, so I can't help you much there.

Hey, I do not want to steal a thread here, but because it is generally the same topic I guess I could try to ask another question.

My daughter is interested to race some of XC events on MASS and I wonder, how kids/beginner friendly they are? Any specific races/venues she should stay away from? How difficult the race course can be? Do they put juniors in the separate wave? Boys/girls separated? I just do not want her to be run over by bunch of fast and aggressive guys.
She raced NICA last year and did good, but she is still MS girl so I don't want to scare her.

Her is the list of XC races I copied from the website:

2018-04-22 Trek Spring XC Classic @ Fair Hill Fairhill MD XC
2018-05-12 On the Rocks @ French Creek French Creek State Park - Birdsboro, PA XC & Endurance
2018-06-03 Bear Creek XC Challenge Bear Creek Resort, PA XC
2018-06-09 Ramseys Revenge Brandywine Creek State Park, DE XC
2018-06-16 Challenger XC Race Camden County College, NJ XC
2018-06-23 Guys Neshaminy Classic Neshaminy High School, PA XC
2018-07-01 D & Q Summer Sizzler Gloucester County College, Sewell, NJ XC
2018-07-14 Escape From Granogue Montchanin, DE XC & Endurance
2018-07-29 Iron Hill Challenge Newark, DE XC & Endurance Register Now
2018-08-25 Big Elk Off Road MTB Race Fair Hill, MD XC & Endurance

    Thanks!

Just glancing at the bikereg page for one of them, it looks like cat3 has a junior women under 15 category. I'd assume all of the races have these same categories.

Yeah, I know about U15 category, just wonder how it is usually organized. Do they let all Cat 3 riders start at one wave? Or is it single mass start for everyone on the race? I am probably looking for first-hand experience from other riders.
