    Map Of The Wiss???

Anybody have a good map of the mtb trails for Wissahickon? I rode there once (I live in Northern NJ) and wanted to ride again since I have family down in that area. I was wondering if anybody had a real good map of the trails to ride. Or if anybody can suggest a decent 15 or bigger mile loop of some sort. I'll ride any type of trail that comes my way.....I just want to avoid too much hike a bike all day long.

    Thanks,

    wissahickon is super easy...

you basically just go down one side of the creek and back up the other.

if you do THE WHOLE THING. it should be right around 15 miles.

here is a link to a map:

thanks my good man. do you know anything about a off shoot section called belmont plains or something like that? some guy at a bike shop told me about it. said it was good and part of wissahickon. i was not sure where it was.

basically i would park at valley green. that is the only way i know how to get to wiss.

belmont plateau is separate from wissahickon (all part of fairmount park system).

i really wish the parks system had better maps but they don't... to give you an idea of where it is in relation to wissahickon check this out:

    http://theparkinsoncouncil.org/Fairm...ap_edited2.jpg

wissahickon is not shown but starts in the top of this map (wissahickon bus station)

the trails at belmont stretch between the belmont mansion and the chamounix youth hostel.

best way to connect the two by bike would be to take mlk drive (crossover at the fallsbirdge) to montgomery and ride in through the parking lot up there. i'd say that is atleast 4-5 miles of road riding though. and without a guide those belmot trails can be tricky to find.

depends on what yuo think is "worth the trouble"

the trails are far from scenic but parts of them are very twsity technical tight and fun to ride... i enjoy myself whenever i go but never stop to think, "man what a nice spot"
