for those of you who are interested in all types of lights come check out CAT's(Coallition for Appropriate Transportation) Light demo. Info is below and VMB will be leading a ride right afterwards to the new salisbury singletrack.

CAT Finishes Out the Bicycling Season* w/ Four Special Events

Thursday, October 27, the regular open house at the Bethlehem Bicycle Cooperative (BBC) runs an extra hour from 5 to 8 PM. There will be a bicycle lighting seminar featuring the latest lights and lighting systems from Genesis Bicycles, Saucon Valley Bikes, Action Wheels, Bike USA Outlet and Curt's Cyclery. CAT's way of reminding cyclists that at this time of the year a cyclist needs good lights for riding in the dark and inclement weather. The event also highlights the change in the BBC Thursday evening Winter schedule: 5 to 7 PM during November, December, January and February. The BBC is located at 60 W. Broad St. in downtown Bethlehem. As always, CAT members have free use of our complete Park Tool set while the BBC is open on Thursday evenings!

Friday, October 28, at 6 PM the CAT film series continues with the showing of PaWoods, a movie about REAL BMX riding on the dirt tracks of Pennsylvania. This is a half hour film of non-stop action suggested for viewing by new Cycling Instructor in Training, Andrew Bruns. Some stuff from the artists behind the dvd can be seen here: http://www.sickethenyou.com/htdoc/dvd.htm.

Saturday, October 29, at 10 AM, a LOVE YOUR LOCAL TRAIL DAY celebration kicks off with a media conference featuring State Representative Steve Samuelson making an important announcement about State funding for CAT at the Ice House on Sand Island. Come celebrate the Lehigh Canal Towpath from Sand Island to Charlie Brown's Clearing in Bethlehem this Saturday. Rumor has it CAT has to get rid of more than 300 used bikes stored in a soon to be demolished warehouse on the island, which means lots of bikes looking for good homes Saturday afternoon!

Saturday, November 5, at 10 AM in the BBC, one of the best bike mechanics on the planet, Frank Pavlick, will show us how to build a front wheel with a hub generator. This is the ultimate answer to the problem of providing power for lights on a bicycle. Also, the next 12-hour Park Tool School Mechanic Class will start with a 3-hour session the same day at 1 PM. Registration is required for the Park Tool School and the class is limited to FOUR students.

*Yes, we know there are some diehards out there that ride bike all year round!
