    I'm Back!!!

Today was my first ride at the Moon since I was diagnosed with diabetes. I only rode 1.37 miles because my blood sugar dropped from 117 to 67, but it felt great to be out on the trails again!!! Next time, I will be better prepared and be able to put in a better ride!!!

Thanks guys...I have really missed it!!! The doc said that I could be off my meds within a year...I just have to watch what I am doing and lose weight. Since Feb 18, I am down 30 pounds and have been keeping my numbers where they need to be!!! I look forward to more riding and seeing you all on the trails!!!

Don't know you but I'm trying to keep from getting diabete's. Good luck. Don't have them yet but have a complete family list of people that do. Can I ask you a question? Would you just take candy bars or what to help that from happening again?

I am still experimenting to see what works best. I would definitely try to avoid candy bars because of the simple carbs...last time I rode I carried some Mojo bars with me, but I also had a water bottle full of Gatorade which I would drink sparingly. The Mojo bars have a low glycemic index while the Gatorade is much higher. So a combo of both might be what we need. I just ordered a book from Amazon today called the Diabetic Athletes Handbook....according to the reviews, it is very informative. As everyone's body is different, I feel the answer is in individual experimentation. However, I do caution you to know the signs of both high and low blood glucose and test your blood often. I am using every mile and a quarter to mile and half for testing. Good luck!!!
