This might be a silly question but it is my first year attending Dirt Fest so forgive me. With all of the sponsors and demos that will be there, how does riding their bikes work? Is there a price or is that included in the ticket price? With that said, I imagine you still want to bring your own bike right? I know these are probably obvious answers but I just want to clarify for myself. Thanks!

The demo bikes are available to anyone wearing a paid attendance wrist band. And yes, you should bring your own bike. There are generally waiting lists for the demos, and there is a regular route that can be completed in a reasonable... About 45 minutes. The route includes osprey and hydro so you can have some fun.

Bring a credit card, most of the demo companies require one so you don't ride off with their bike. Most of the demo places just have you fill our a waiver, then they let you jump on the bike and ride all you want. The admission price is worth is just for the demos.

Good info. Thanks again! The admission price definitely seems worth it. I didn't hesitate to register it seems like an amazing weekend.

If this is your first time at raystown take it easy, there is always at least once guy who goes way to fast and needs to be air lifted out of there.

My first time there I almost went over the bars going down osprey.

I don't think there was a single life flight last year

Okay, a few broken clavicles, a wrist and several ribs but no helicopter rides. BUT i could be wrong.

Heed sml's warning and you'll have a great time.

The first year there I blew a few turns but not quite crashing, but I got to watch Chriffer dump himself like four times. He learned to use brakes eventually.

It's a blast. Never had to show anything but ID to secure a demo. Definitely a place you need to keep your speed in check on your first time out, have had a few friends make hospital trips.

Last year I lucked out - demoed everything from Salsa in one day - everytime I came back to the booth, another bike in my size had just been returned.

No one should miss this even if you like bikes and beer - it's a great time and definitely one of the smoothest-run events I've ever been to.
Oh noes. I'm going to drink the Kool-Aid.

Unfortunately I was the only one (that I know of) who left via the Aerial Meatwagon last year. I lost it on Osprey and woke up staring at the ceiling of an ambulance on my way to a helicopter.

I walked out of an Altoona hospital with 5 stitches above my left eye and a massive head ache. (concussion) My bike took very little damage. I replaced my helmet and bought new brakes.

This was my second loop of the day on my own bike and I guess I was going to fast on Osprey. Or my old brakes locked? (happened once before at speed) I don't remember much of the accident.

I won't be there this year but I definitely want to come back and ride that trail again. Have fun, be safe, and enjoy the festival!

My camping days are long gone. Any 5-star hotels nearby?
