    ****ing horses

Set out this morning for a run around the sweet single track out at Brady's Run. Looks like a group of horse riders went out this weekend & trashed the place.

All the soft areas are post holed and several places where the trail follows the hillside the horses hooves slipped out & cut out large gouges in the down hill side of the trail. I also saw several areas where the riders took the horses off the established trail & tore up the hillside.

Not to mention the horse **** everywhere.

Now I just moved to the area last week and admittedly haven't spent one second of my time building or maintaining the trails there (tho I do plan to volunteer my time for trail maintenance) but god dam, when we as cyclists preach courtesy to other users and are supposed to yeild right of way to hikers & horses, to go out & see pristine single track thrashed by inconsiderate users makes my blood boil.

If they would come out on trail days & help fix the damage it would help, but I've never seen an equestrain at a trail day.

My favorite sign in the world is at Fair Hill, it reads...

    NOT SUITABLE FOR EQUESTRIAN USE

    they should be everywhere.

I would guess ya gotta be quite tall unless you use a milk crate, but then again stealing milk crates is also illegal.

No milk crates were stolen in the making of this post!

    Rob:

Damn milkcrates are so hard to come as they are now GPS marked with little black cameras installed by and the milk crate police!

Basically retired to Sheep, much closer to the ground!

Nope. Gotta admit, I was worried that i wouldn't find anything like Michaux around here to ride but so far I've found the riding here is awesome.

Brady's Run is smooth, fast flowy single track similar to Schaffer Farms in Germantown.

Morraine State Park is super technical & rocky but extremely well thought out & executed. Kinda like riding the ATV trails at Michaux.

I have a whole list of other places I haven't been to yet that are all within an hours drive. Schenley, Boyce & Frick parks in Pittsburgh (all just a few minutes from work), Settlers Cabin & Hillman out towards the airport. Kennerdell & some other stuff to the North, can't wait to dig in to this stuff.

I'm working nights so I'm free during the day & should pretty much have it to myself.

I think it's a racing horse it has a red stripe, prolly a rookie! They tuck it up front to avoid wind drag...
