    MTB in Costa Rica

Just wondering if anyone had recommendations on where to go mountain biking in Costa Rica. I will be heading down at the end of September, which is rainy season so I don't know if it is even possible. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, you're just a tad early for me to be of any help... I'm actually heading down to CR this weekend to scope things out for a permanent move later in October. I would suggest contacting a few of the local bike shops down there for some info - where in CR are you going to be?

Yes, it is possible to ride in CR on the rainy season, that been said there are a couple of “bike parks” near San José. La Angelina Bike Park in Tres Rios, The Adventure Bike Park in Heredia are a couple of them all within 20km of SJ; there are a couple of bike parks outside SJ but you will have to drive at least 150km to get there. There are several routes on the mountains around SJ as well, but I recommend you not to go unless you find a local who is willing to guide you, most of them pass really close to trouble neighborhoods and if you miss the route you would end up in the not so pura vida part of CR.

Just throwing this out there for anyone who searches in the future... I'm living in Costa Rica permanently now and located very close to the 'Las Catalinas' trailhead in Guanacaste.

If anyone is coming down and wants to check it out shoot me a PM... Once my container arrives with my bike it'll be golden.

I agree about las Catalinas. But the area around Bagaces and Liberia is rife with singletrack...Lava Tours - Mountain biking in Costa Rica.
