New question here. AM/Light FR near Portland?

I've been riding almost exclusively in El Paso, but I will be in Portland for most of the summer. Is there an area nearby that has technical climbs/descents? I'm not used to riding more than about 10 yards without having to use 4-5 inches or more of my suspension and work the bike to clear some sort of obstacle (rock shelves, drop, babyheads, etc. no roots)

I rode some trails in the Scapoose area in December that have some potential, I haven't seen them dry though, and definately no rocks from what I saw. A few logs and some nice roots.

Also, are there any good shuttleable runs? Do they open any of the ski resorts?

Closest thing is probably going to be Hood River area (post canyon). They should open up Ski Bowl pretty early this year as long as we dont have any late freak snow storms. Nothing at all in the Portland area. You already hit Scappose, that is pretty much the closest decent trail network to the city. Expect an 1-1.5 drive in all directions to get to anything decent.

Its a little bit of a drive but the Blackrock trails in Falls City are just what you are looking for.

Not true, there's a half-dozen separate lines in Portland. They're just increasingly controversial.
