Off to an early start this year. With the forecast of winds gusting to 50mph these fires may grow substantially.

Yeah, that loony Arpaio has got to go.

edit: Oh, you meant fires. That, too.

Ya, that crazy SOB likes enforcing laws and making sure inmates don't enjoy their incarceration. What kind of insanity is that?

Back on topic: When I lived in Phoenix (95 - 97) I remember a huge fire out east of town. It went on for weeks.

    Well let's see...

The entire state is made out of kindling.
    It never rains.
It's hot enough for crap to spontaneously combust.
    It's typically fairly windy.

Yup. Methinks it's gonna be a looooong summer/fire season.

I just hope it isn't as bad as everyone is calling for it to be. Come on monsoons!

Ya, come on monsoons. Bring on all that lightning to spark off more fires.
Actually the extra moisture in the air should help.

My apologies to AZ.MTNS for derailing his thread. I'd had a few beers and some wine, and Arpaio was the first thing to pop into my mind. Then, when the Tea Bagger arrived, it was like shooting ducks on a pond.

Back to topic: I prefer Sedona riding to Tucson riding (I used to live in Tucson awhile ago), and hope those Sedona area gems of trails are spared.
