What cycling magazines are you reading?

So, new to a hobby, sport, pursuit, etc, I like to see what info is out there, forums, websites, and even the lowly old fashioned magazine or two.

I didn't see too many at the local Barnes and Nobles. So it left me wondering, what's out there, which ones are good for reading, which ones are just ad circulars with an off road cycling title, and what are you guys reading?

    The votes so far...

I think I'll call and cancel that subscription for Bicycle Magazine I ordered last week...

Authorities speculate that speed may have been a factor. They are also holding gravity and inertia for questioning.

There hasn't been a "new" article published in Bicycling in the last 20 years. Same old rehash - "20 ways to climb, descend, corner, sprint faster", etc, etc.

Another vote for MBA. I like their unbiased, unchanging, insightful reviews of current products.

I got a copy of both MBA and Dirt Rag.

Just between the two of them, for one issue, I like dirt rag better. It had a wider range of topics. but that might be in part to the fact that MBA was doing a special on some FS bikes.

    Hahaha. Every f***ing issue!

P.S. Flying Monkey: my post was made as a joke. I think(though am not certain) CCMTB's post was the same. There's a few threads on their suckitude. This one
And this one. Just for starters.

I like DirtRag but haven't read it in a few years. I really need to get on my mag. game.

Cyclocross Magazine. Not sure how it would be received in a MTB forum though.

The UK magazines are the only ones even remotely worth reading, IMO.

What Mountain Bike is fine, but hard to find here in the states.

You can get What Mountain Bike and tr other UK mags on Zinio.

I used to read MBAction for the product news but this has been superseded by the interwebs. Now I'll buy mag for more in-depth articles about people and places (with decent photography to match).

I made the mistake of buying an
Aussie one once - Revolution - and while it looked slick, the editing was terrible and riddled with errors. Spell checkers are free!

They have What Mountain Bike at the local Books A Million. I wasn't quite ready to drop $12 on it though. That's money out of my bike fund...

Just picked that up myself. Not too bad with all the BS they fill it with and it helps ease taking poops. Though the new Truvativ NOIR T40 bars they advertized look nice. Forget what page that was on.

Dirt Rag used to be tops but has gone down hill without the Tierneys being hands on.
I don't need product placement in reviews. IMBA sends me Bicycling, between that and MTBR, I good.

I read MBA - buy it once in while when I'm at the grocery store. I just bought this month's last night and read it on the crapper. It really reminds me of when I used to read BMX Plus! magazine when I was a kid.

The covers on MBA are always:

    GET FASTER NOW!
29'ER DOMINATION?! 6 TESTS REVEAL THE TRUTH!
TIRED? 8 FOODS YOU SHOULD EAT BEFORE A RIDE!

...and so on with the photo's saturation bumped 85%.

I used to read Bicycle Times, which is under Dirt Rag. I don't know... they promote themselves as "a bicycle mag for the common person" but yet all the bikes advertised and reviewed are +/- $1,200 and up. Super expensive hand-built bikes, expensive parts, etc.

My wife rides a hybrid bike, which fits under Bicycle Times demographic, and it was $350. Hardly you will see reviews for bikes in that price point in this mag. When they first started, they had some great articles about converting old MTB's into commuters and stuff, but now they're hiding under the guise as "we're just common bicycle riders and don't need expensive carbon stuff, maaaaaannnnn..." but everything in the mag is expensive.

At least MBA doesn't try to hide behind a false pretense. Everybody knows that it's 50 pages of advertisement - and I appreciate that honesty.

I buy bike magazine solely for the pics. It's like mtb porn.
