I didn't know where to post this this interesting video showing how the largest set of church bells in Toronto gets played.

This instrument is called a carillon, and is located high in the church bell tower. The carillonneur hits keys that mechanically activate levers and wires that connect to metal clappers that strike the inside of the bells...so the bells don't actually move--only the clappers do.

In 1922, Metropolitan United Church became the first church in North America to install a tuned carillon, and now, with a collection of 54 bronze bells ranging in weight from about 20 pounds to 4 tons, has one of the largest sets of harmonically tuned bells on the continent.

I met this guy once at his house and he had a huge, fully built pipe organ in his house. He basically put all the pipes wherever he could make room, but it all works. It's hard to describe but it almost looks like his house was built around the pipe organ. I was only able to find this article from 1986, but I saw the finished product in the mid 2000's.
