Very much so, Judy thanks for starting up another whacky news thread. Seeing how some can't seem to keep their polical views from spewing forth. Which ended our last great thread on this subject.

Australia beat England in their pool match of the Rugby World Cup, meaning the host nation will not progress beyond the pool matches for the first time in World Cup history. What's weird about that I hear you ask? We dominated the scrum and even out muscled them when it came to rolling mauls.

Yes, but not the old less formal simple kind of curiosity. However, it may not work against that ferocious karate monkey. Seriously, look at that facial expression, give the chimp his cigs and energy drink for Pete's sake.

I'm not sure if that guy sparring with the chimp is named Pete, but it would make sense.

Smoking in general has long been known to have averse effects on sexual performance. The article is vague, as it should be since it's published in Playboy, but it does say 2 important things to acknowledge:

    1) daily smokers in comparison to non-smokers have a 3x higher incidence
    2) "The accumulated research exploring the effects of marijuana on male sexual functioning is pretty limited"

In addition, there is some additional common sense based assumptions concerning dosage and tolerance. I detest this kind of "study shows" BS and it certainly is a weird and wacky (tobaccy) article but I hate this kind of stuff. Give me a well designed exp with the correct comparisons and controls including the age range of the participants and a history of issues or medical conditions (HBP, etc.). This is like posting an article from a women's magazine about whether or not smoking the maryjane makes your boobs bigger in his eyes. Duh, of course they are!

Sorry, I'm just annoyed by this kind of fluff.

Again sorry, it smells fishy since a couple of the articles linked are republished articles from 1982. Not that you can't do good science in 1982, it's just reeks of reefer madness propaganda. Like that British article that came out a while ago about the link between mental illness and the reefer. When you read the article the people who had issues had already been diagnosed or were predisposed to schizophrenia by familial relation. Anyway, I hate these kind of articles regardless of the topic whether they be of the medical, environmental, or social sciences.

It's obviously time for me to go ride.

They really need better aim if they're going to put out a fire with 20 oz. of water at a time. Although that's probably better than the paper box he used in the beginning.

I'm betting this dude had a guardian angel. For about 6 match strikes, the angel kept the match from lighting. When he persisted, the angel said, I'm out of here, you are going to burn down the block.

Wow, a murder victim found on one of my favorite trails! The place where the noted sex therapist was found is not far from a paved road, which is where he probably started walking his dog. Dog was also shot, but survived, leash was still in dead owner's hand.

Thank God for Photoshop and Paint, or I never would have seen that.
Joking aside, I do believe there has to be life elsewhere. If I was a higher power in the universe, I'd definitely have backups all over the place, because you just put too much work into making a planet, to loose it all in a Big Bang or Big Crunch.

It's real because my news source says it is which is the only real unbiased source out there. I also have a hunch that you are Hawg are both reptilian shapeshifters who have a hidden agenda.

Always make sure you have a bell on your bike. Especially when you have your sawed off shotgun in your backpack.

is it just me or does it look like there is something on the road that he swerved around? There is definitely a "shadow" moving about halfway between the 4wd and the telegraph pole. I know the driver doesn't say it but it sure looks like there was something on the road.

The shadow was from the bike itself going down.
That's been going on here in the states for decades, and the proof of how screwed up the police are, is that even with video proof they still didn't arrest him on the spot for attempted murder.

no, the shadow I am talking about is on the right hand side of the road, on the edge and heading into the grass.

and I agree about the rest.

Yeah, saw that. The driver should have been more aware if he didn't see the motorcycle. I also think that perhaps the biker should have stayed in the train on that road. This is one of those completely avoidable occurrences, but people.

Hopefully, the motorcyclists will be ok.

Yep after you mentioned that I watched it a couple more times. There is something on the right shoulder that the old man may have swerved to avoid. He was so shaken up that I he possibly didn't remember swerving to avoid it. I doubt it was intentional. At first I thought it was but now I'm a bit more skeptical. An old man may have freaked out for a second and swerved. Bad timing is all. I hope it comes to light that there was something on that shoulder in the exact spot that he swerved. The odds?

Not really recent news, the article is from earlier this year, but I discovered it yesterday. I was thinking about the Beatles song "A day in the life" and was wondering what the line "now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall" was all about. The letter from Albert Hall is pure comedy!

Royal Albert Hall was ‘furious’ over Beatles lyric, newly discovered documents reveal — Royal Albert Hall

I initially thought this was your typical story of narcissism gone amuk, but it's a drug fueled attempt at Darwinism. Still stupid, but says less about the general direction of society than it does about the continuing problems drug users have making good decisions.

    Speaking of wanksy Wednesday

Met the Mrs for lunch today and was a lane from a scary situation.

Some dude was expressing his Wednesday desires in the car. Police were called with plates being reported. The car has been associated with bomb threats in Minneapolis so the entire police force lays out in a chase.

We saw them corner the car and restrain the guys with drawn guns. Bomb dog finds detects bomb and a chunk of the city is shut down.

The story is still unfolding but this dude was caught with his pants down.

That's amazing, I mean the stupidity of it all.
First the collapse shouldn't have happened, then the next logical section to collapse has a bunch of people standing on it!

They should have known that it would collapse parking all those cars there.

This thread is so freaking old, I may have posted this already, but I have a clipping on my wall from a newspaper of a small town:

    Police Reports

The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymously report crime information, call 463-6205

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES - Someone reported two teenage girls lying on the grass by a paint store on East Gobbi Street holding signs that ask people to honk if they think they are sexy.

I skeptical about the $100K damage estimate, but his first problem was going to a non-touchless carwash. Those will ruin your paint job.

    Yeah, that's where he erred.

The guy is 94 years old, you think he gives a flock about the paint on his Brougham?

I just certain that's why he was driving so fast. Less time under the brushes = less paint damage. I remember when my grandfather (no where near 94) started having issues driving. My grandmother thought there was no way he could pass the driver's test but the small town DMV basically walked him through the test questions and didn't have him drive. A week later he nearly t-boned a bright yellow beetle and then while driving down a railroad access road, launched his pickup across a country road. I was in the passenger seat and I'll swear we were a good three feet clear of the roadway. The landing took out the front bumper but left the little S-10 drivable (if not aligned). After that my mom and her sisters stepped in and took his license. Probably a good thing, he was bound to take someone out at some point.

That's depressing. We will get old and then what? Stuck in a van or bus? I think self driving cars will be the answer when I'm old. I'll probably be screaming and pounding my own car to make it go faster.

My grandmother and aunts drove him around until he needed to move to assisted living. My father-in-law didn't go that far before we pulled his license (non-Alzheimer’s dementia). Still, pretty traumatic for him as well. I'd rather have him bumming than plowing through a bus stop full of kids though. Probably in both their futures had the families not stepped in. Statistically, cyclists may have a lower rate of dementia. Either due to the positive effect of exercise or the negative effect of cars.

My great aunt, who had raised my mum, took her own life when she lost the ability to drive. She had lived alone on a mountain escarpment most of her life and couldn't face life without the ability to get herself around. She thought that was a better option than seeing out her days in a home.

I used to live in a small town that published everything that went through the police radio in the town paper

The Record for Friday, April 19, 2013 | Steamboat Pilot & Today

The while day was crazy but this is the highlight
"Police received a call from a woman who said her juvenile granddaughter was at the ski area last week and ran into a person who was selling bags of what she thought were portobello mushrooms dipped in chocolate for $30. Police said the granddaughter further informed her grandmother that giraffes were chasing her down the hill after she ate the mushrooms."

A lot of our Senators and congresspersons still think gun control is waaaaaay out of line, "totally unacceptable", even when there is seemingly a mass shooting weekly.

    How wacky is that??!!
