    Underrated Artists or Bands

    Criteria:

    1. Longevity in the business (no artists or bands under 10 years old)
    2. Explanation of why they are underrated...

My entry is E-40 (Fawty Watah). HIs weed-driven rhymes are beyond lame hip-hop grunts that you hear today. He's cameoed in dozens of songs, and he still makes records to this day, adhering to the classic, bass driven Oakland sound.

I be more hipper than a hippopotamus
Get off in your head like a neurologist
    Pushin more weight than Atlas
Got a partner by the name of 2Pacalypse
The seven-oh-seven my roots go hella far back to Flor Terrace
I pull a forty out of my ballcap
and den I flush it down my esopha-garus
The group that I'm with The Click
    Suga, D-Shot, Legit
    Family orientated
    Game related, it's the ****
    Killing mother****ers off crucial
    Sittin em down mutual
Running through these lyrics as if I was fibered
    like Metamucil
First lyric "Jesus Christ had dreads, so shake 'em" - LOVE IT!

The list I have is far to long (100's of under-rated artist/bands) to put here.

    Fairport Convention

because anything with Richard Thompson is criminally underappreciated.

Rory Gallagher! Voted guitarist of the year in 72 over Clapton.

The Saw Doctors. Multiple platinum albums in Ireland and Europe, barely a whisper over here.

Hey husaberg who did Rory Gallagher play with
in 72? I saw him then, but don't remember who he
was with. For some reason Edgar Winter comes to
    mind though.

    Best, John

Los Lobos should have owned the Grammys, the years they put out some incredible albums (..and where the winners were the typical lame mediocre phenom flames. But what is new.)

But you don't hear of Majek Fashek, Youssou N' Dour, Femi Kuti, Amadou et Mariam, Mano Chao, MC Solaar,....why? This is America frankly.

    Around 10 years or more:
    Cunninlinguists
    Kurt Vile
    The War on Drugs
    BORIS
    Torche
    Zoroaster
    Deerhunter

Boris can pack out arenas in Europe, Russia, and Japan but they come here and cant even sell out a bar. They're so experimental that they frequently alienate their fairweather fanbase when releasing new albums of drastically different genres.

Cunninlinguists are great hip-hop but I feel like the guys dont want too much promotion because they like being at the top of their game and flying right under the radar of pop hip-hop.

Kinda same with the Kurt Vile/ War on Drugs connection, could be huge but dont want to be.

Deerhunter is huge in certain circles but it doesnt seem like the mainstream will pick them up, they're a little too unpredictable on stage (musically always outstanding but sometimes they get into a punk-rock stage persona and go nuts).

The Beatles... I'm sure their next album will push them over the edge to stardom.

    I love Amadou et Mariam!
Along with most of the stuff here:
Pretty much everyone on: Eastern Conference, Definitive Jux, RhymeSayers, everyone in Sandpeople, Hieroglyphics and Hiero Emperium, everyone in AotP, everyone in Oldominion, the dudes from Freeicecream.net, Graf Orlok are just out of the money( nine years), Gogol Bordello. Lots of overlap here and more I want to put but I guess this is good for now.
