So is this BS or a misprint?

I got a flyer in the mail today for Sportsman's Warehouse, with these 2 sleeping bags touted therein. One is rated at -35 degrees, the other at -10 degrees. I find this pritt-tee hard to believe, since they look like Coleman equivalents.

Since it's around 100 in NorkAl right now, my AC is bringing the room temp down to a tolerable 80+.

After having worked in outdoor retail in the past, at a store that sold something similar...the important thing that's not in that ad is the weight of those sleeping bags. Those mofos are going to be HEAVY. You'll need a pickup truck just to carry the -35 one.

    So, I'd say they're legit...with caveats.

Finch I think those ratings are a bit hit and miss, they always seem to have a little * somewhere that negates what they are trying to claim.

I have always felt that it is more important to focus on whom or what you have on inside the sleeping bag.

If you have this guy, then you my friend are good to -50

If on the other hand you have someone wearing this face, then you'll stay cool at temps north of 100

I keep somewhere at a chill -25 degrees Fahrenheit that we can test it in! I avoid that room as much as possible haha!

Those ratings are whats supposed to be "survivable." So it's going to be f***ing cold but you probably won't die at the rated temp.

A flyer in the mail? They still do that?
Well my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle.

So are you saying that Coleman sleeping bags suck? I’m a bit behind on the quality they are putting out these days but they’ve been in the game for decades. Like lots of decades.

LMAO. 17.5 lbs. That's heavier than the weight of my entire backpack with 2 liters of water on getaway day.

Yeah, I know this isn't for backpacking, but still…

Nope, not saying that at all, but I'd venture to guess Coleman wouldn't be your first pick for a visit to Alaska to ride with Jayem.

But if global warming continues, I guess Coleman might be at the head of the sack. Err, pack.

Edit: DJ, maybe now is the time for you to invent the air-conditioned bag, aka ASleeping Bag (TM).

Harold is correct. I have a cheap as Aldi bag rated "Warm 5 degrees, cold -1.5 and extreme -23.5 degrees c. It's packed size is about 4 times that of my daughters Black Wolf hiking bag and about 10 times the weight. Just like bikes, the lighter you go the more expensive they get.

Well Finch, if the garage is no longer far enough to escape, skip the sleeping bag and get a plastic bag
