    Show us ya tats!

Lets see some ink. Whats the story behind it and do you have regrets or still love it.

Pos rep for Mountainbike tats and neg rep for dudes with Ass Tats. Ladies, your ass tats are fine.

Mine is a statue from my hometown drawn from a local legend about a Lady named Pania. A nice touch is that is also my wifes name. pronounced Pah-nee-ah. Underneath is some coverup work that hides some unflattering stuff that wont be discussed here.

Sorry about the shitty photo and I'm sure my little tattoo is going to look pretty average compared to whats out there.

My wife won't let me get an yink, so do scars count? I've got one on my left calf that is kinda shaped like a Mickey Mouse head.

I have a ton of tattoos, but this is my chest piece. My wife is also covered in tats, and actually was featured on the "Off-Beat Bride" website.

Got a Tebori style on my leg.

Okay, so I'm probably going to catch hell and a bunch of neg rep for this but, this is my back piece. It's not done yet. There's a longish story as to why but I don't feel like typing it now. Maybe when I get around to taking crappier cell pics of my other tattoos.

Way too big trying to resize.

I would like to preface this post of my tattoo(s) by saying that if your easily offended by images of desecrated religious figures and will be angry please do not scroll down to the pictures of my back. Seriously. It's not finished but it's still gnarly. Please don't get your panties in a bunch if you do decide to scroll down. Don't tell me I'm going to hell as I don't believe in it. Let's just leave it at the fact that you have your belief and I'm not into it. To me, it's art and that is all it is. Feel free to neg rep me as I could give two shits less about that crap. Just know that if you really believe then you should be fine with it as I will "get what's coming to me" if you will. Ready?

    Seriously, no crying.

Here's my back. I had some poorly done tattoos on my back and told the artist to do something "white trashy" and this is what he came up with. Still a work in progress.

2fargon: your back is sick. That's so awesomely hilarious. I love it. I'm jealous.

Anyone know what the circles are from on my forearm? I'll give you a hint: it's from a cartoon I love( for those following the cartoon thread, it's not listed in there). My brother and I have matching tattoos of it.

I'm fair skinned, so I keep my skin covered up as much as I can from sun exposure and possible skin cancer. I'd gross people out if I got any part of my body inked. ' tis a young persons game, I suppose.

Hard to let values go when my father was raised in Occupied Netherlands during WW II, where tattoo's were for Jews, under the armpit, with your registration number.

Still appreciate the art work, it's just not personally for me, being inked, I guess I have a stigma about it.

I got my first tattoo at 18 and rather than fill myself up I got one every birthday after that (a few extras during the years sometimes too) I finished "sleeving" my left arm last year by getting a phoenix that fills in all the extra space......I am close to sleeving the other arm too.

My idea; the artist drew it based on imagery and ideas I had. It doesn't really mean anything. I just like the contrast between beautiful art and the desacration of religious images since to me religion is a bit like imaginary friends. It's a bunch of references to different religions, chief among them being Cristianity. The virgin Mary is sitting like the Buddah but instead of a lotus blossom she's in a Venus Flytrap, like the religion is actually dangerous and not helpful. Zombie baby Jesus is a reference to the resurrection. Mary has eight arms as a kind of combined reference to Kali and Shiva in the Hindu religion. Kali is usually depicted holding a severed human head and sword; I used a goat head and machete since the lamb is a typical sacrificial animal for god and goats are "satanic". The infinity in the goats eyes are kind of a way to say that evil will never be fully removed from our nature. The rosary is an upside down cross, yet another jab at Christianity. The gun to Mary's head is kind of a statement that if all religions don't start practicing what they vehemently preach (e.g. tolerance, acceptance and love for neighbors) they are going to end up destroying themselves along with everyone else.

But mostly, it's just ****in' cool.

    Nice stuff my bretheran.

I want tattoos, but can not make up my mind. So much design, placement and color to choose. I think traditional Japanese is cool and so is American traditional. I don't know, my mind explodes every time I think of them!

if I had bigger balls, I'd have a copy of one of Joseph Tomelleri's Cutthroat trout prints done on me, but I doubt there's a tattooist good enough to do a repro of his art as a tat.

so what you're saying is, if you had bigger balls, they'd be able to fit one of those trout on them?

There's butt loads of artists good enough to reproduce his work on flesh. I'm sure some in your town. You just have to seek them out; ask any of the kids with tons of tattoos and huge holes in their ears. They may be hipsters but they know their art. Most of them anyway. Ask a good majority of people and the artist's name you hear repeated most often is a good starting point. Take the image to them and if they're any good they'll let you know whether or not they can reproduce that particular style. If not, they should recommend an artist that will do it justice.

Was the artist that did that picture rendition Michael DeVries? He used to work for me in construction in his teens.

    Thanks for the explanation!
