    Shoes: Pearl Feet, internet advertisement

An ad for these hand stitched microfiber leather casual shoes popped up on this forum. I don't know why they thought I was in the market for shoes, but I felt an attraction. At least, I did until I saw an online promotional picture of a model wearing the shoes, and the model had rolled up the cuffs on his/her jeans a couple turns. I don't consider myself a person who rolls up the jeans cuff. Am I correct in declining to purchase these shoes, because I don't identify with the model in the picture? Or maybe I should reject them because I don't really need any shoes. Even though they look really comfortable.

Iíve been eyeballing that ad for some time, very comfy looking shoes. Iíve held back purchasing but Iím getting weaker by the day. And Iím not one to buy into the lifestyle they try to portray in an ad. Either I like something or I donít.

Does that mean that I should ignore the imaging associated with the product? DJ, please say that's not so. I mean, they look like they're really comfortable, but....

Which shoe was it? I just looked thru their microfiber options and didn't see any I liked.

They have some that are copies of "sidewalk surfers" made by Sanuk. They have the same color green tag but it says FASHION on it, lol, total knock offs!

Just a company trying to sell cheap shoes perhaps.

    And how are they handmade?

Looks like machine stitching done by hand, like all shoes probably are. Maybe they had to hand lace the uppers to the sole.

These are the two Iíve been been pondering.

The first one and the third one.

Whew, you saved me from making a huge mistake. Guess I'll just stay with my Merrell trail runners... but the trail runners are made in a factory in China, too. Dang.

Yes, but with a company like Merrell, they're made to a much higher standard. The craftsmanship and quality of products coming out of Chinese factories ranges from garbage to pretty phukkin good.

Love my Merrells. I used to hike in them but went to lighter trail runners. Now the Merrells are my JWA shoes. Look great with my dad jeans.

I got a pair of Keen hiking boots to replace my ten year old worn out hikers/workers.

They were SOOO dam comfortable, I decided to use them as my everyday work shoes.

Found a pair of Vasque boots to use for off-road/outdoor duty at REI Outlet for half price.

If you can make it to a REI used gear sale, and wait until a certain time (say, 2 pm), they drop the remaining shoe prices by 50%. That includes any shoes you've been hoarding since whatever time you got there. I got a lightly-used pair of Merrell low-top hiking shoes for $12.50 that way.

I buy NIB old Ecco shoes. works for me....as long as I don't get the ones with the soles that last for a specific amount of time (years) perfectly fine, then like an alarm clock goes off, they self-destruct and crumble in ten steps or less. truly bizzare to read about it, no way can a shoe sole do that and be fine on one day and next they dissolve...but sure enough, Ecco found a way to make it happen.
