Yes it is, and so are all the ones in those other two threads. All this thread does is make me click more.

You posted that ^ one in the other thread. So which one is more satisfying in your opinion?

I was thinking the same at first, but then I remembered trying to stand on a board floating in water, lol!

Maybe with the forward momentum it'd be doable?

If you could stick the landing, which I bet you could, it'd prolly be just like snowboarding powder.

Ok, I got butt-in-the-air babe looping but now it says the file is too large when I try to upload it, exceeds the max file size for a gif! So do these have to be hosted elsewhere?

Yes. Uploaded gifs here don't gifinate.

EDIT: I take that back...just noticed the original butt in the air is an attachment. Pretty sure they use to not in the olden days.

The big difference between skateboarding and surfing is that to "pump" on a transition on a skateboard you load your back foot, to pump a surfboard you load the front foot. I've done enough "boat surfing" to have it figured out ok, but so many years of skateboarding make the surfing pump kind of counter intuitive. Snowboarding doesn't rely on pumping for speed of course as you go downhill, but it too is a rear foot pump for the time you are on firm enough snow and there is the right shape to pump speed through.

Jack, nothing against snowboarding or any board sport but I always get a kick out of skiing with boarders and coming to a flat spot. I can get hauling pretty quick sprinting the skis while the boarder has to dismount one binding and push along clumsily. Im already sitting and eating lunch by the time they get to the lodge.

PRo-tip #1 if you go to an unknown hill where you don't know where the flats are, WAX YOUR BOARD!

It's exceedingly rare that a skier passes me on flats, ski resorts generally don't have much/any terrain that is truly flat, and with a fresh wax you move along just fine, plus I'm not scared to pin it to get across flats as needed.

Many/most snowboarders think that you cannot ride a snowboard flat on its base, but they're wrong, you do have to practice it though, and when you do it you have no control over your direction as you inherently have to go down the fall line, but "flat basing" is a fantastic tool to teach you how to get the most speed out of your board. I'm not a big fan of speeding for the sake of speeding, but learning how to ride your board flat will help anyones snowboarding immensely, most notably, once you learn it it makes edge transfers smoother as you know how to deal with that moment when your board is flat between the turns...

I'll give that a go. Great info on board technique. I'll pass that along to my brother who boards. It always seems like he has issues on the flats. He's an excellent boarder though. Not sure if he has riding the board flat down though.

I'll give that a go. Great info on board technique. I'll pass that along to my brother who boards. It always seems like he has issues on the flats. He's an excellent boarder though. Not sure if he has riding the board flat down though.
The thing is, most people have an aversion to riding dead flat on their board, and they don't know it, so unless you intentionally practice it, you will ride your board slightly on one edge, at a very slight angle to the direction you are travelling, and that kills some speed. When you are riding dead flat you have no choice but to have the board pointing totally straight in relation to your direction of travel, this eliminates that bit of speed loss from being on one edge and travelling slightly sideways.

Cat tracks are of course not always totally level side to side, in those situations you need to ride flat till you are pointing sort of towards the edge of the cat track, then make one slight CARVED turn (carving as opposed to skidding minimizes speed loss) then get back on the flat of the board.

I'm not a boarder but it all makes sense. I know my brother has talked about riding flat for speed and feeling out of control. Not to take this thread too far off course, Korn will have a fit when he sees this. btw thanks for the image hosting site suggestion, it worked. I just posted some botany. Not sure if I can get a gif to work off there though.

Maybe I am being a jerk. Maybe it's because it's so big and blurry?

Why don't you use the forum uploader? It works with a lot of pics and gifs, just not imgur.

The original photoshopper should have left the I out of the other two words for authenticity.

It's all the same to me. All satisfying, whether it be a funny photo, funny gif or just a mind blowing photo or gif. We've got 3 threads with the same satisfying result. The only difference is, one is new and the other two are seasoned.

Well maybe I should have added "Cool" to the thread title then? I just felt there were enough pics and gifs on the interwebz to have both. There was a couple gif threads that didn't make it, and I happen to like the gif format, so I thought we could have a thread for this kinda stuff. I just put pics in the title so we wouldn't be limited to gifs.

*And just FYI; satisfying gifs is a thing on the internwebz. Just Google Image "satisfying gifs" and you'll see.

I know, I've got a ton waiting in the wings that haven't been posted if I could only get them to post. I've had gif posting issues for a week now.

And it looks to be handmade, which is awesome.

DJ; just because it's yellow doesn't mean it's pine. I don't see any grain so I'd guess maple.

Geez, a guy can't even assume around here. BTW maple is darker than that.

Cool tundra rig and a very satisfying gif I might add.

I don't know, maple is pretty light before it is stained. Could be poplar or basswood but since the guy obviously knows what he's doing, maple is probably a good guess.

As a note the lighting on that plane gif is kinda over-lit and saturated, so color is not a good indicator.

And Chaz, being a southerner I'm assuming you meant a yellow poplar, LOL!

And Poplar is one hard freaking hardwood. I'm not much of a fan of it's coloring either. It's not yellow like what is shown in the gif. It's got a green hue with dark brown grain swirls through it. I'm still leaning towards a yellow pine in that gif.

Yeah, poplar can vary and you have to look out for those greenish tones which are often there. I was thinking I used poplar on a furniture piece I built but now that I think about it, I think I used birch.

How are we going to solve this mystery? Won't be satisfied until we do.

It looks to be a serious piece he's working on. Would a craftsman use soft pine for a serious piece like that? I thought soft pine was for pallets and Ikea furniture.

Love the look of birch. And Net pine is used on anything that hardwoods are used on. It all depends on the budget. Obviously any hardwood is going to look better, last longer and not warp. But many people go with pine because it's so economical. A common thing to do is just stain it dark to give it the look of a hardwood. Anyone that knows woods can spot the grain right off the bat and tell it's pine though.

Pine is used for more "country" style furniture. It's also used to make less expensive solid wood furniture than that made with hardwoods. I was shocked the first time I saw pine veneer on pressboard furniture.

I've been daily riding it as my town bike, its actually a really nice "tranquil" bike to ride.

A buddy was getting rid of a bunch of old bike parts which included an old set of XTR square taper cranks, so those are now on the Wrongest, dropped 10 ounces off the bike compared to the steel chainring crank I pulled off!

I do have a pic from this spring over in teton park, looks pretty similar to the last one I posted, and this is before the XTR crank,

I hesitated a little before I asked, didn't want to hear it was tucked away in a corner of a garage somewhere, good to hear that you're still riding it JB! And nice shot in front of the satisfying Tetons!

Trying to figure out what's acceptable and what isn't can be a little...complex.

I've probably put 1000 miles on it between last summer and this summer.

Its really nice to ride, "tranquil" would be an apt description, being tall makes it balance more easily, its the difference between balancing a pencil on your finger or a broomstick on your hand, but in bicycle form.

I get tons of comments and thumbs up when I'm in town, it's crazy how a fairly simple physical object can SO consistently make people smile.

Yup, El Guapo Corto 45mm. I liked the Outlaw, but the Corto won. Loaded has the same re-branded stem: Loaded USA :: Loaded Precision Components :: Products

That's because it's a clown bike, with a clown riding it. I think it's awesome and I'd prolly smile and give you a thumbs up if I saw you riding it
