    Rosetta and Comet 67P

Anyone else been following this incredible feat?

Just Google Rosetta and comet for info. This spacecraft, which was launched 10 years ago, is now 4 billion miles out in space, and about to rendezvous with a comet only 2.5 miles across. Rosetta will orbit 19 miles above, and send down a lander to analyze the surface.

As the comet flies closer to the sun, Rosetta will take pics of the comet's 2 tails. Unprecedented, and just freaking amazing.

Could someone cut and paste more info for the benefit of our readers, please?

Chasing bears through the woods drunk with a dull hatchet is strongly not advised

    Oh, yeah huh. My bad.

I didn't think that was an astronomy thread, I thought it read Starf*ckers and was about groupies.

That's cool! Amazing that it will hit it's target after 10 years traveling through space!
