Yup. Had models and posters of his cars in my room growing up.

Sad day indeed for all autosports.

More than a sad day for Autosports if you ask me. I am admittedly a auto enthusiast but I felt compelled to write about his importance to us cyclists and a nation, in my blog.

Definately a loss to the world. Not just automotive. Shelby was always one of those guys that wouldnt hesitate to sign an autograph or have a conversation with a fan of his cars. I never got to meet him personally but Ive met a handful of Shelby owners who have met him and had nothing but praise for the man. From what I understand he was also heavily involved in a good amount of charities. All I can hope for is his family and his company continue to run his company to the full appreciation of his name. Call me weird but I was actually very disheartened by the news of his death, especially since he died in a hospital after battling phenmonia. Its a shame we lost him, and within the same decade of losing Lingenfelter.

One of America's original hot rodders, first American to beat the Ferrari's in their home turf. We all wanted the Mustang GT 500 when it came out.

Does this mean that all new cars will have 22" wheels?

It's weird because my two most coveted mustangs of his are his first and last GT500. I just wish I had the 50-60k for one now.

1 word gt1000 1000hp GT. Insane car and the last thing he was doing before dying. It was what he always wanted and pushed to get it through including test driving it one last time, even though his eyesight was pretty bad.

He certainly had a great concept with cars, take light potential chassis and stuff them with go fasts.

WOW, missed this when it happened. Yes sad day indeed, he was a visionary for sure, designed the best looking machine to grace the road in the Cobra, is and always be my dream car. Remember watching the Barrett Jackson auctions 2 or 3 years ago when they were selling his special edition one with like 700BHP and he came up and gave the story of it and how he got a ticket for doing some crazy speed - was the only one in existence as only 2 were made and the other got wrecked AFAIK.
One day your life will flash before your eyes, will it be worth watching??
