Endo is good. It's simple, it's catchy, it's easy to remember, and it's BIKE related!

Since it's an Ausi breed, how about Joey after a baby Kangaroo?

It's also easier to train dogs when their name is only one syllable.

Hey Chum, nice puppy and all that, but what gives? I have been feeling unwelcome here after some of your comments about posting up cat pictures etc, now I come back to see that you are apparently a flagrant cat-ist, and have started a thread about a dog! Hmmm...

My dog's name is Endo as well (she's a bull terrier mix), and it's a good name, but rather confusing, since she's a she.

Congrats on the pup, but shouldn't this be posted in the Trail Dogs Are The Awesomest forum???
    What's wrong with him??

I had 2 aussies when I was younger - their names were 'Smiley' and 'Stain'. Imagine calling out "Come here Smiley...Come Stain" over and over.

that might fly - but I'd have a hard time naming a midsized dog after a large flightless bird attracted to vinyl

that might be better than Endo - and I don't even use strava (i think I tried it once years ago).

I like cats. We have a great cat named Cinder. Before that I had a couple of Maine Coons (they got eaten by dogs though )

If anything I should dislike dogs for eating my cats right?

looks like that in the pic....but one eye is green

it will either stay green, or turn amber.

    the blue will stay blue.

gonna be a trippy looking dog if it turns out to have 1 yellow eye and 1 blue.

hmmmm - how about the name "Trip"?

    he's a red.

red ranges from a light cinnamon to mine the darker liver.

He's a tri because of the copper points.

You missed my point Chum. Or you chose to ignore it! I don't believe that anyone should dislike a species for doing something that is pretty much instinctive. If that had happened to me I would hate myself for not looking after my cats better. I would probably have hated the dog owners for not controlling their dogs too, but I don't know the circumstances, so reserve judgement.
Anyway, I vote for "Tones'" as his name...

    Backstory:

the neighbors neglected and starving dogs broke through my fence to eat my cats, that were in my yard.

Animal Control came, took the dogs and put them down that same day.

Nothing I could have done - my animals were where they were supposed to be in a fenced yard.

still not sure what your original point was - you thought I don't like cats...I do like cats.

What's not to like about a cat? Well maybe once they get older and create an attitude. I still dig them though.

    I don't like cats, I never have.

Domestic cats have no place in the natural order, being artificially bred for human amusement. They are typically selfish creatures whose affections are dependant on them approving of the treatment they receive, which is not directly related to the absolute quality of that treatment.

They are also fundamentally evil and see the world only as a source of amusement. Unlike big cats, who kill to eat, these bastardised hybrids retain the desire to kill without the justification. The only reason your cat doesn't kill you for the fun of it is that he is not big enough!

But as usual, it is not the animal but their 'owners' that are often the biggest problem. While dog owners have to display a high degree of responsibility for their pet's behaviour, cat owners often have complete disregard for how their decision to bring cats into their local environment effects other people and animals. How can you claim to be a reasonable pet owner when much of the time you have no idea where your pet is or what it is doing? Why does your desire to have a cat translate into me having your cat in my garden? Using my flowers as toilets and killing protected wild birds to pass the time.

Cats are for people who want a pet but do not want to invest the time, effort and responsibility to look after one properly. There is therefore no comparison between a cat and a dog, or a cat owner and a dog owner. The dog is by far the nobler creature in every respect.

What's the difference between cats and catz?

Oh, years ago my wife and I saw the musical Cats. What a load of absolute s***e! Not because it was about cats, that was incidental to the overall s***ness of the whole thing.

Heres a dude who converted his appearance to look like a cat. He lived in San Diego for awhile and was an avid hiker. He frequented hiking Noble Canyon a popular mtb trail. I never met him but I know someone who did meet him on the trail. He said he was a nice guy but a "different cat".

He moved back to his home in Nevada and later committed suicide.

Holy Christ!!! My first thought was that she would definitely benefit from the "hair drag dumpster treatment", but on second thought, she's seems pretty unstable. Might be better to pass on that one, unless of course she was all teary eyed because she just really, really loved doggy style.

Good ones, I thought of the fact that he had one blue eye and one green eye the name Off Camber would be befitting. A bit off kilter like all of us.

I've got two Aussies, best dogs in the world. Good choice.

My two year old red tri is named Axel. Friendliest dog I've ever seen. Feel free to borrow his name.

The 14+ year old blue merle is the son of a working herding dog and has no time for strangers at all. He has eyes that are each mixed blue/brown.

chum, you called him a red tri aussie, us Aussies call them Kelpies

They are very, very intelligent dogs, are you sure you are prepared to step down a rung in the household? Very loyal and obedient and easily trained as well but make sure you exercise him, he will need to run EVERY day, and not just around the block.

Also, given he is a Kelpie and primarily red at that, even though he is a tri, then there is only one name suitable.

    "Red Dog"

Yes I put both of those links there

BTW, "Emu might fly", I think we are both smart enough to know no emu is ever going to fly.

But a Kelpie is not an Aussie

Australian Shepherds did not come from Australia...they are an American breed.

    Have been since the 1800's

You also might be thinking of the Australian breed the German Coolie (as opposed to a Kelpie)

Well you learn something new everyday and this probably explains why I have never heard of them before. I am guessing they come from the same line of dog somewhere way back when. Please continue my education, if they are an American breed why are they called Australian Shepherds?

Kelpies are working farm dogs, normally with sheep. Do Australian Shepherds actually work sheep or not? If they do then that would only further my believe that they are linked somewhere in the past.

So a quick search would suggest there is absolutely no link between the two breeds. Most unuasual given their similar size, appearance, even down to colourings and the mixed eye gene, their similar traits and what they have been bred to do.

Either way you'll be needing plenty of this

The Australian Kelpie is not an Australian Shepherd. This is Ruby (female) and Harry (male)

The Australian Kelpie is thought to be a cross between British working dogs brought over with the colonists and other breeds, maybe including dingos. They are a fast running, loud barking, energetic and medium size dog. Some say they are a working dog only and cannot become a family pet.

I have friends who breed them (anyone who goes to the Outback Spectacular on the Gold Coast will see one of their dogs). They raise their dogs with as much people contact as possible and make them family friendly. When my son was a little kid (3 years old) they worried about him mixing with the dogs, because like any "pack" of dogs there is a pecking order not to be over-stepped. The first time a bunch of them came at him he just fell flat on his back and they all put in the tongue. Best of friends from then on. The sound of a large group running at full speed is like galloping horses (horses - bbbbbllllllllllrrrrr). They love an outdoor environment, but some of the Callicoma dogs have gone to small apartments, only after the owner proved they would be able to look after the dog (they have back orders of 18 months or more, have dogs all over the world and can deny a sale as appropriate) and all of those owners seem to keep in contact. Dogs are definitely part of the family.

^ yes and I am confusing my aussie breeds, the shepherd would be a lot closer in appearance to a collie.

I should just shut up now and go and crawl back into my kennel.
