Any tips, suggestions, good food to try out? Places to avoid?

I'm here for a week of work (life is tough sometimes I know!)....Driving from San Juan to Ponce tomorrow, I hear drivers can be interesting here to we'll see how that goes lol.

    Puerto Rico....

I go for work. Metropol is good Cuban food in San Juan and their drivers are indeed crazy. I sat in traffic and there's always crazy traffic and there were cars in the breakdown lane. HUH.

I like old San Juan and all the beaches. And the coquis will keep you awake.

    Puerto Rico....

Old San Juan is very cool. If you can make it to Rincon, do so. Very cool. The lazy parrot is yummy. Yes, drivers are nutso and thieves are rampant in places. Beware.

Perhaps you could rent a bike instead of taking a cab.

Once you have your rental bike, pedal on over to this place in San Juan Old Town:

    Verde Mesa - Home

My wife and I were recommended last time we were there, and it is amazing!
    It's all Here. Now.

It would be a long bike ride from San Juan to Ponce....

I'll def have to try & find something like that (maybe a beach cruiser) once I have my work schedule figured out. Contractor is picking me up at least the first day to show me around.

Thanks for the suggestions on food etc!

Some things I've noticed on the road here .....

Police leave their blue lights on.... All the time?!?.... Weird...

    Signals. What signals?

Party buses, school buses with crazy lights and loud stereo..... Nutty!
