We have 4 cats. Fella (grey), Mavic(tabby), Merlin (black) and Aries (PITA).

Fella collects rodents. Sometimes he leaves proof on the living room floor for the other cats.

The only thing worse than finding a dead bunny on the living room floor is finding the entrails at 5am in my bare feet. I see bunny parts in the yard every couple of days. the neighbors find them too.

^^^ blech, my cat mostly purrs and gives me googly eye's.

Here is my fish tank. It contains lots and lots of live plants, forced CO2, Led lighting etc... As for fish: 5 Celestial Pearl Danios, 12 Eye-spot Rasbora, 3 Sparkling Dwarf Garrami, 3 Bronze Cory's, 2 Oto's. I plan to add a pair of cockatoo cichlids when i find them.

My brother has pet spiders. I don't mind the house spiders in my basement or the garden spiders in our yard, but I can't abide them bigger than 2". I get the willies bad around big spiders.

Some good looking pets I love all critters.
Here's my little riding buddy his name is Bandit. He is 12 years old but most people think he's 6 or 7. He runs for miles on the trails with me as I ride He stays ahead of me about 20' but has keyed in to my Chris King hubs buzzing. When I want to pass I get up on his butt and he here's them and moves to the left. I always try to pass him on the right. As I go by I say "good boy". And it's usually only for a couple hundred yards before I allow him back in front of me. That's where he likes it. He stays on the single track 100% of the time while we are moving. Once we take a break that's when he cruises off trail to explore. Always within a 100 feet of me and always comes right back once he hits that invisible barrier. He is an awesome dude and very smart. He is half Doberman and half Border Collie.

A little more on him, he loves all people and dogs. But he hates Coyotes & he kills cats. The neighborhood cats have Learned to stay out of his yard. It's been several years since I found any dead back there. As far as Coyotes he will take them on no matter what. He once took on 3 right in front of me. He was in the garage when I came out to go to work at 3:30a.m.
I open the garage door and he "usually" steps out a couple feet and waits until I pull out. I can always see him on my drivers side mirror. I then tell him to go back in and I click the door shut. My GF puts him out later in the morning. Anyway this particular morning I open the door and see him standing there through my mirror. All of a sudden he bolts full on barking. I jump out of the truck just in time to see. He was full speed heading across the street. There in a park like setting and a parking lot with a dumpster. A Coyote was near the dumpster. Luckely for me it was well lit up with a street light.Bandit was full speed and on top of the Coyote before the Coyote new what hit him. The sound of them fighting was insane. It wasn't more than ten seconds and two more Coyote came out of the brush and joined in. I thought my dog was dead for sure I was still 50' away trying to get to them I had no idea what I was going to do when I got there. The fight lasted maybe 1 minute more and all 3 Coyotes hightailed it out of there. Bandit hot on thier heels. The Coyotes in full running speed had thier tails under their body's between the back legs and were snarling an biting back at Bandit. They disappeared off into the darkness. I heard them stop and fight again and then silence. I was screaming the whole time calling his name I was shaking like a leaf and freaking thinking he was dead. All I could do was call and go in the direction they went. Through the neighborhood calling. I stopped and went back to the parking lot and continued calling his name. About twenty minutes goes by and all of a sudden here he comes all smiles and wagging his tail. I was so happy but scared of what wounds I would find. I did a complete check on him. All I found was a 1" long not very deep cut on his snout. That was 4 years ago and the hair never grew back. A nice battle wound. Anyway hes all happy and I was all shaking and I go "Holy crap buddy you are nuts are you okay? He was as happy as I have ever seen him. He was up to date on his shots but I was still nervous. I kept a close eye on him for the next couple weeks. He was fine luckily. Like I said earlier I have no way of posting a photo but if you go to my profile there is a picture of him. Once you see him you will see why Bandit gets all the attention wherever he goes. Lucky dude!

Thanks Hutch, Yeah it was a scary deal and I would have hate to have lost him. He is the sweetest dog but for some reason he hates Coyotes and cats. I'm just glad he can hold his own when needed.

Seems like if you really "love all critters," you'd train (or restrain your dog) so it wouldn't kill cats...

Yeah I hear ya Steve and trust me I do love all animals including cats. Unfortunately to train a dog to stop a behavior which is in his blood (Doberman) you must have access to the problem. In this case cats.I don't have any cats and no one in thier right mind would allow you to (nor would I ) place a cat in a dangerous spot to train the dog "no". The only time he has contact with a cat is late at night. He sleeps in his dog house in the back yard on hot summer nights. A neighborhood cat prowling the streets at night jumps over the fence into the yard. That's when he gives chase and 99% of the time the cat easily gets away. Like I said Bandit is 12 now and not as alert or hearing sensitive like he once was. I haven't found a dead cat for probably 4 years. And he has only caught and killed two when he was younger. The neighborhood cats got smarter and Bandit got older. We have 4 pet rabbits that Bandit protects and he licks them to death with love. Yet out in the sticks if he sees a wild rabbit he gives chase to catch and I presume to kill. He has never caught one. The rabbits are always too quick and have an escape route handy.

Here is my dog Chance. He just turned 1 year two weeks ago. These pictures are a very accurate representation of his personality.

So, I crouched down to take the third picture (of my bike,) and just after snapping the pic he completely leveled me!!! Then, once I pulled the pic up on the computer I noticed him in the left side of the frame coming to get me!!

    Nice...

    Naughty...

    Naughty again!!

Do you have MTS (Multiple Tank Syndrome) too? lol What are you keeping?

About 10 years ago my dad randomly decided he wanted a tank. So we bought one. I looked online about cycling tanks and good fish for the tank. The next thing I know we're at a local club's auction with a few other tanks and numerous bags of fish in the truck. Then (with the help of my dad) we were members of all the local clubs and we were breeding, selling and showing our fish at the local club's events. It just kept growing until we had about 50 tanks going (20 were 10g or 5g breeders and another 20 two and a half gallon tanks for a Killie project I had for a couple years and several other "show" tanks ranging from 40g to 120g). Most of this was livebearers with a few plecos and as I said Killies - mostly annuals, but I did always have the odd trio of mop-spawners somewhere.

Obviously I've narrowed down significantly. I no longer have a breeder setup nor the Killies. I'm also working by myself now, so pretty much they're in community tanks and whatever fry I can scoop out to a fry tank (or survive on their own in the big tank) are what I have. Gave a bunch of tanks to my dad and he focuses on Mollies and Guppies. Still a member of a lot of clubs, but not showing too much anymore and rather than buying everything at auctions, I only grab the "deals" when other people run out of money. lol

Our schutzhund bred Head of The Household. If we ever let on that he had the power to get whatever he wants- whenever, we would be in a lot of trouble. First dog I have had where a dry hump is just about involuntary when he has the whim. He's a sweetie, but a muscling head-strong teenager. One of the few times the trainer has suggested nutz removal. No decision yet; love to have him be a trail dog someday. Doing are best...by him, trust me. He has a great heart and is full of love, incredible nose and instinct.

Have you started looking for the Apistos yet? Because they're a fairly popular fish up around here (Southern Ontario, Canada). Normally you'll always find at least a couple pairs at the local club auctions.

A bit, i have ordered fish to my door before, but this time around i want to just pick up what my local shop gets in. They only get a few pairs in a year, so i am on the "waiting list" I really want a few stiphodons as well:

I had 2 in a past tank, probably one of the more interesting "little" fish i have owned.

Ha,ha I missed this post Net from way back. I didn't see Jett although from what I've seen in your videos he's pretty quick I may have missed him.

Some good looking pooches in here. I think I posted this in here already so if so just ignore it. Here's My 14 1/2 year old Bandit. He was 10 in this photo.

Here's a couple of shots of my Louie. He's a cute little guy. A mix of mini-pincher and chihuahua. He's about 6 lbs. Sometimes I call him "6lbs of terror" the way he barks at all the big dogs. But he's a real sweet dog. He's about 2 1/2 now.
    A lap dog:

You can see just how small he is in the desk chair:

    My American Rottweiler "Trigger"

About as mean as they come, I definitely sleep well at night. I have to watch her with friends coming over. She pinned my buddy in a corner while I was taking a shower. He walked in unannounced.

    She loves my gf tho!

My dog isn't much of a guard dog. Someone can walk into my house with a ball and treats and he'd probably help them move stuff out.

So our Corgi was 13 years old and starting to fall apart. Can't see, hard of hearing, arthritis. He had good days and bad days, but I didn't want to watch him go to pieces. I took him to the vet today to sleep the forever sleep. We will always miss Zak, he was a great dog...

That's a real bummer, B&F. You did the right thing....I really don't believe the old saying that suffering makes us stronger, especially when the suffering is terminal.
If only we humans applied that to ourselves.

So many fine companions here, nice going, y'all.

    Post Pictures of your PETS-image.jpg

Carlo, doing the Tri-Paw. I thought his leg was hurt...until I saw him doing it southpaw, hehe.

He's 15 and still frisky. He was my stepdad's cat, but Chuck passed away a few years ago. My mom got overwhelmed with life and was going to send Carlo away. Over my dead body, she will! He is our cat now, and we're so glad to have this well behaved lad around. He's the perfect mix of solitary and sociable, basically lives outside and loves every minute of it...

Sorry to hear about your step dads passing. But glad to hear you stepped up and gave Carlo a new happy home.

vvv Thanks for that sentiment, DJ. Thumbs up back atcha, mate.
Very nice, but I hope for Carlo's sake you don't have coyotes in your area. If so, that blanket of his is likely to turn up empty some day, just like that....(not kidding).

Hi, Ray...we greatly appreciate your concern for our little dood! Carlo comes from the street and is extremely wily and cautious. The primary dangers where he lives are foxes and great horned owls (I've never seen a coyote up here, but tons of bobcats and even mountain lions). As cavalier as he looks on that carpet, he doesn't lounge out in the open like that unless we are in the immediate vicinity. His normal hang is in the crawl space under the house, where he can wedge himself way back in there if he needs to (and I know he has when the foxes have come by at night). I'm not saying he could never be snagged by any predator, but his preference is to be outside, so we honor that despite any risks. Thanks again for the kind words.

That's good to hear, the mountain lions likely kill any coyote they find in their immediate territory. I found a cat out at the primitive campground at Painted Rock, AZ once. The campground host told me the cat had been there for almost 6 months.....the area is lousy with coyotes, at least it had been the last time I was there.

That night, I didn't hear a single coyote 'yip'. The next day, I was pacing off some distances to set some targets up in the wash behind the campground, where I found the chewed off tibia of a deer. Next to it I found a mountain lion print, and not too far away I found some coyote parts. Seems like the deer that frequent the area due to the Gila River watershed had attracted a resident Big Kitty, who didn't waste any time going about eradicating his 'competition'.

That's what actually saved the little cat's life. It shook the campground host up quite a bit, though. He had no idea.

    Sorry to hear about Zak.

April, my German Shepherd lived to be 12, but the final months were super tough for her. She had cataracts so she was pretty much blind and had bad hips. Barely was able to get up in the morning. Taking her to the vet for her final visit was probably one of the toughest things I ever had to do. It took me a while to determine if I wanted another dog and I'm glad I got Baron. But its all part of being a dog owner, right? The good and the bad.

Doesn't help that large parts of their habitat are being destroyed (ie; Belo Monte). Great fish but so damn messy!

Found some puppy photos of Baron on my computer and wanted to share. This was the first day I picked him up at 7 weeks old. It was suppose to be another week, but the breeder called me and told the mom wasn't paying attention to the puppies so they were good to go.

This thread is filled with love

It's almost a year since we lost Rocky. I miss having a pet. (dog vs cat)

We have a family of rabbits who hang out on our property (family of robins, winter birds, squirrels and chipmunks) but it's not quite the same

Baron was a cutie! Again, he reminds me so much of Fletch.

Here's a picture of Fletch at about the same age.

I see truckers walking dogs around truck stop parking lot all the time.

The problems are... I don't have much spare room inside, and some places don't let you come on their premises if you have a pet onboard (I don't know why - I don't haul food products).

Here is Reina the little street puppy I got in Mexico in April. Wow that was only 2 months ago. Full of mange and every other parasite and disease. I was Gopro filming when we spotted and caught her.

Yeah she seems to really appreciate being rescued, it's almost like she understands. Super good temperament and she does what you ask, after only a couple times. And it was so easy to take her back -- virtually no restrictions on bringing dogs back with you if you accompany them. The vet bills were $30 in Mexico. She also had a bacterial blood infection that the first vet in Canada missed, the second one caught. So add another few hundred. Still way cheaper than getting a dog up here.

I'm boarding my 19 year-old tomcat at a dog place at night, while he is recovering from from eye surgery. He has to wear the "cone of shame" 24/7, and at night we cannot sleep with him banging it up against any surface that will create a loud noise. He's the only cat there, and everybody seems to love him.

Speaking of Vizslas ....there is a guy with two Vizsla/Bloodhound mixes there....they are huge, and look to me like a distinct new breed of dog. Easily 100lb.s each, and about 30" at the shoulder. Quite the beauties, they are.

Tomorrow, the old boy goes to the Vet for a one -week post-op check-up. I know that at 19, doing this surgery amounts to an act of "controlled folly" on my part, but when the Vet, an Opthamologist/specialist, told us he was in constant pain from the condition, I was actually taken by surprise. She was also quite confident about the outcome....she told me her prognosis on his recovery, age factors considered, was a solid 90%. You don't see odds like that quoted very often in medicine, animal or human, so...........And I figure that this is my row to hoe in this life rescuing older animal that nobody else will take, even if I only do so with one at a time. I do my best, though, so if nothin' else, I'm consistent.

Anyways.....fingers crossed for the old guy.

thnx, net & ray. it was sudden and not expected at all so pretty tough going still. those two were inseparable. we definitely got lucky when we rescued him. a very sweet first dog for my son to grow up with. hook taught him alot! great memories so all will be well in time.

seein everyone's pics of their pals makes for smiles! it's all good.
