Photobucket now charging $400 to host your photos.

This stupid move will negatively impact forums everywhere. Screw photobucket, I deleted my account that I'd had since '06 last night. It's crazy to think of all the information that will now be lost.

I've been using imgur for a long time and glad I made a better choice. Unless imgur decides to follow suit. :/

This is true, but often enough, if an Imgur picture is embedded here, you can sometimes force it to show if you right-click on it and "show image".

Ah, I didn't know that little trick. Although this particular pic (the one in the next post) seems to be one of those Imgur pics that won't let me right click to view.

Yeah, it's hit or miss. I can force an Imgur pic to show here about 50% of the time.

Postimg dot org is a good alternative to Poo-bucket and Imgur.

I have a bunch of stuff on photobucket, but I don't use that site any more as it takes a year to get all the popups and clickbait ads to go away.

Photobucket was really annoying over the past couple years so I don't miss it but the amount of info that will now be unusable and incomplete on forums of all types is mind blowing. Photobucket has been around since '03.

I already had all of my photos on my computer so I just deleted my account. There is no way I'd ever spend the time trying to go back to different posts over the past 10+ years to relink my photos to a new hosting site. I'm doubtful that many other people would either. It is such a shame to see so much helpful info now lost. It'd be one thing if photo****it would have warned people. The way they did it pissed me off so I deleted everything and then my account.

I read in other forums that some people are taking their PB albums and transferring them to other sites like imgur and Flickr. I still don't know of an easy way for them to re- establish their links?

yeah I downloaded all my pics a mnth o so ago, when things really started to get bad, its aways had ads, then an "upgrade" a few years ago made it slow as...but recently the ads have made it virtually useless, not in the last week it is actually useless... I used to pay for it years ago, maybe 2005, $40/year...$400...no way thanks.

Thing is what to use? I tried flickr but it's pretty crap, I'l probably jsut end up using google photos, or just build a template site on some webspace and manually load stuff there.

Just a bummer as all my stuff for the last heap of years was in there, so all the already linked stuff, plus the app was pretty easy to use.

Same here. Also I don't have to use a hosting service for photos.
I can just embed photos with Tapatalk and it just does it.

The photos get hosted on Tapatalk's server.

Good looking ride Net. Although you may want to get working on those legs. And maybe the tubeless thing isn't working out for you after all. I'll let the tweaked front rotor go for now, you've got enough to work out already.

Where are you getting the $400 a year price? Are you all saying you need 500GB of Cloud hosted photo and video storage? Yeah the top tier high GB storage is expensive, but most big time Cloud Storage is. Looks like they are just making the free option suck now... Remember if something is free.... you and your privacy is the price.

    Photobucket Plus Storage | Photobucket

They also have a $9.99/month plan for 102GB of storage and a $5.99/Month plan for 52GB of storage.

I personally pay Google $9.99/Month for 100GB of storage in my Google Photo's account because I want to be able to take as much video of my son and have it backed up without fear of losing it. Yeah it would be cheaper to buy some external drives, but I like the convenience of accessing it anytime from my phone from anywhere without having to think about it.

They even have a super cheap $2.49/Month option to just get rid of the Ads.

Why are people afraid to pay for a service?

Heck, my free account has 18GB of space, of which I am currently using 3.3GB.

But I could care less if I lost that data, it was all old and not really of use to me.

EDIT: OIC, you have to get the 500GB option to be able to link to other sites... now i get the anger.. oh well, guess it is time to use a different service.

    Google Chrome extension workaround:

    https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...fegnfnflicjjgj

I suggest anyone with big threads or anything else they want to save, use this and go through and save each page of them as a complete webpage, on your computer. Then you'll have them if there is ever a way to get them back up on the net.

Didn't they try something similar in the mid 2000's (2006-07)? I can remember a threat of you were going to lose all your images by certain date...... don't remember if they were claiming to go to a pay structure or if it was no longer going to retain the data/links. Mass exodus of people downloading their data and looking for a new host. I've got a couple CD's in my desk of the raw data backup. I never returned to them after that.

I need to get all my stuff off photosuckit.

Is there a reasonably easy way to download all the photos to a HDD or my PC or will it take forever? Almost all were mobile uploads.

I can't even imagine how long that would take and how painful that would be to go through. P-bucket has been the absolute slowest, most cumbersome site to work with for a couple years now. I use to use it like crazy but in the past couple years, it's a nightmare to wait for page loads and clickbait BS. Apparently they made an incorrect assumption that users cared about the internet and could be extorted to save their photos. Bwahahaha! We'll get along just fine when P-bucket's a distant memory,

This seems like a "Prime" opportunity for Amazon to make a move into the game of image hosting.

You can download your whole collection of photos. Click Download Album in the right side of the screen. I downloaded 300 MB.

I don't understand why they just didn't say, "You have two months, Pay us $30 dollars a year or else". That is more reasonable and many people would pay it.

They must be going under and this is a last cash grab. Don't know why they'd be going under with all their advertising revenue and sh!tty internet service.

I'm laughing at the new 3rd party ransom images replacing photos.

What a legacy to advertise how you get people using something then handcuff them til they pay you money.

Yep, this smells like Silicon Valley death throws.
I grew up there and it always starts with the company website getting funky, them price gouging, customer service suddenly sucking etc.

^Interesting observation and makes we wonder about Cox cable expanding their over-data cap fees to more markets.

Bastards. We go over some months and being a customer for 17 years just means you get to spit on it before they screw you.

Didn't know this was going on. I've had a PB account for years. Haven't posted any photos there in quite awhile so I just went and checked my account to see what was going on. Seems my account is the "free" 2.1gb plan. Looks like I'm ok for now. That being said, I opened up a Flickr account 2 years ago and now post most of my photos there. I can link photos here rather easily from Flickr.

Yeah, I found myself a couple of other free photo hosting sites that will allow me to link my photos to forums. No more Photobucket for me. I signed on with Servimg.com and Postimage.org
